The whole electric vehicle bullshit never should have happened. They should have went all in on hybrid technology instead, especially plug-in hybrid technology like the RAV4. It makes so much more sense. I'm about as anti-EV as one can be, but the idea of a plugin hybrid is exciting for me.

I was a big fan of System76 and jumped on the chance to apply for a remote customer support position. For context, this was around the time Covid vaccines were first being released. I prepared for the interview, hopped on the video call, and felt like I could bring a lot to the customers. I'd worked in retail for years and enjoyed building rapport with clients and fixing problems. Then the bombshell. They required proof of covid-19 vaccination for all employees. I was low risk and unsure of the vaccine. I opted to pass on it. I made a rational decision after thinking it over deeply. I explained that and pointed out that the position was remote anyway. Didn't matter. Interview ended. I would probably still be working there and contributing at a much higher level than that entry role. I always do no matter where I am. There's no real point to this. I was just reminded of it as I'm working on the last System76 machine I ever bought (before that interview).

My college is asking alumni for donations for homeless military veterans. Awesome, but why the fuck are there homeless military veterans?

@SoapMiner my latest order arrived (mailbox smelled awesome 😂) and a suggestion occurred to me: add a checkbox or an item to indicate that no marketing materials are necessary. Not sure if it's worth altering your workflow, but I just toss these now. No sense in wasting the sats if it's worth it for you.

I don't have children, so I very few basic opinions on parenting. I find it odd how little some people invest in their children. I don't just mean paying to sustain their lives. That's the minimum. I mean deep investment. Teaching, talking, keeping up with what's going on in their worlds. Some parents seem to be on auto pilot. I don't get it. But, as I said, I'm not a parent. I'm sure it's exhausting and hard, but aren't most worthwhile things?

China choosing gold over #Bitcoin, in my opinion, just demonstrates an attitude they've always had; fuck the people, whatever is best for the party power structure. They can't choose Bitcoin and keep their evil powers. The evil powers in the US can't keep their power and choose anything other than fiat. Gold beats fiat in the short term, but it does nothing to free humanity. It failed. It will always fail. The only hope the US has, that I can see, is to embrace reindustrialization, innovation, deregulation, and all things Bitcoin (mining, adoption - incentives even, legal protection, and production of Bitcoin related goods and services). We should be able to produce our own necessities. Trade should be wide open. We should be the lighthouse for those who want prosperity and freedom.
