I'm legit watching a guy that made a functional katana out of paper. So glad our fiat economy allocates resources efficiently π.
It's come to my attention that BTC RPC Explorer defaults to sending all sorts of API calls to public servers by default. Rate sites, leaking BTC amounts, and queries to blockchain.com, blockchair, and blockcypher unless you've taken the time to configure it pointing to your own local electrs instance.
Thankfully I had someone point this out to me who actually read the code, but sort of obnoxious default behavior especially when the majority of my reason for running a block explorer is to NOT be sending calls to public explorers.
Might be in the market for a new block explorer, though having the config options needed to do this now may leave me just setting it up right and dealing with it.
If anyone else is using it, the following lines would be handy in your config file.
BTCEXP_ADDRESS_API=electrum
BTCEXP_ELECTRUM_SERVERS=tcp://127.0.0.1:50001
BTCEXP_ELECTRUM_TXINDEX=true
BTCEXP_SLOW_DEVICE_MODE=false
BTCEXP_PRIVACY_MODE=true
BTCEXP_NO_RATES=true

I gotta say, for black friday weekend, I'd hoped for more of a sale. The Bitcoin CEO seems downright grinchy for less than 30% off all time highs.
Maybe I can look forward to the price going down as a Christmas bonus. Seems like they'll be cutting my wages for most of next year given when I'm seeing on the liquidity front...
