Meanwhile, my voyage of discovery continues in the real world too. This weekend I met 'Zebra Green Tomatoes', in my local butcher's. Nature has such (often delicious) varierty.

I've just vibe coded a (really basic) MVP for syncing my music playlists from Ubuntu to my phone. I know this sounds trivial but, thanks to a history rich in iTunes (forgive me, it was convenient at at time I knew not better), it wasn't. So, 23 steps (and still Phase 1) into our 7-phase implementation plan (my first go at vibe coding), it became clear that that my overacheiving AI partner was taking this thing to enterprise level, rather than a manually triggered home use app.🤣 Quiet words were had. Some possible simplifications identified (starting with the audit logs, cron job automated scheduler and cross platform consistency checks!). And we begin again. I'm loving the total absence of any blame or frustration for my ambiguous instructions 🙂

I've thought of FOSS and freedom tech in general as being the digital commons, but without an appreciation of the independence of commons from the transactional market nor for the social bonds & obligations involved with their maintenance. The lesson of historic enclosure is an apt warning for us today, that we have a role to play in protecting this new commons & must be vigilant against the onset of complacency.
