I really dislike that when you open @primal you immediately see trending in the past 24 hours And it is always the usual suspects: Odell shouting about something political, pysop-y or “the current thing”. Lyn coz ya know, it’s Lyn A bitcoin podcaster Another bitcoin podcaster. I’ve unfollowed a lot of these trending types and tried to mute some of them yet they still appear. Can you make it so when you open @primal it goes straight to your feed? And if I mute someone can they not appear in trending? Ps primal is great for zapping and it’s my daily driver. Morning rant over! 🧡

Yesterday, I spent 12 hours in the German Parliament, the Bundestag, discussing…. #Bitcoin. Yes, the German Parliament regularly speaks to the dangers of fiat currency while exploring the growing acceptance of Bitcoin, thanks to the initiative “Bitcoin im Bundestag.” I had the opportunity to interview @Joana Cotar, the Member of Parliament leading this Bitcoin educational drive. We spoke about Germany’s blunder in selling 50,000 BTC this summer, the budding acceptance of Bitcoin within the country, and the vibrant grassroots Bitcoin community (hello 21!) Joana has been leading Bitcoin talks throughout the year in both English and German, inviting MPs from across the political spectrum and their aides to formally learn about Bitcoin. It was bizarre and somewhat inspiring to see MPs not only attend last night’s event but ask insightful questions about the future of Germany and Bitcoin. I’m not a big politics guy but I’d love to see a similar initiative in the UK. A big thank you to Joana and her pro-Bitcoin team—Stephan, Dominic, Mathias, and Nina—for their time and for tolerating my camera gear and microphones as we turned their office upside down (!). I also conducted a lightning transaction from self-custodial wallets in German Parliament (kinda cool right), signed a Hodler and hugged lots of lovely German Bitcoiners who were present 🇩🇪 🇩🇪 It was also great to chat with @Samson Mow, who surely has one of the most interesting bitcoin jobs. He advises governments and key opinion leaders worldwide, from Thailand to Montenegro to Argentina, on how to adopt, embrace, or adapt to Bitcoin. Though I usually avoid discussing Bitcoin price speculation, I couldn’t resist with Mr Omega himself. Hearing how more and more nation-states are beginning to open the door to Bitcoin—and will (let’s face it) eventually buy or mine BTC at a state level—reminded me once again of how scarce Bitcoin truly is. Here’s the reminder to you: Bitcoin is the scarcest asset on Earth. There will only ever be 21 million coins. Soon, owning tens of thousands, let alone hundreds of thousands, will be near impossible, even for nation-states with massive money printers at their disposal. And a big thanks to Samson for giving up *the* scarcest thing—his time. I’ll be publishing these interviews and a brief investigation on my YT channel soon. If I can compress the living daylights out of it it can go straight to #nostr too. Stay tuned 😊 Ps,—you don’t have enough Bitcoin.

Just got stopped, searched, bag strewn on the airport floor on arrival to Germany. I’m a bit shaken up that was horrid. The Alsatian sniffer dog was adamant I had something on me. I know I dont have any drugs so I was trying to be helpful to speed it up. But it’s pretty intimidating when they’re so abrupt and aggressive. The policeman was a massive cunt though. Threw my stuff on the floor and was the “guilty until proven innocent” kind of guy. “You have drugs. I am going to find them .” He made me repack my bag in front of the queue leaving the plane. I held up the queue though and they were all scowling, naturally. They tested my hands with some swab thing and the lady policemen had to check with the other guy and said “it’s high.” It can’t possibly be the case as I haven’t touched weed since maybe the summer? Hate to judge but there weren’t a lot of brain cells between them. But they still weren’t satisfied so i got paraded through past the gate to do a “underpants search” as they were adamant I had something. At this point i was like what are my right here, you can’t just strip search someone. Once we went through the gate though the sniffer dog changed its mind. It stopped butting my right thigh. Thank fuck for that. But man. All that coz they thought I had a bit of weed? Gahhhhh. Jesus wept what a waste of resources. I missed my train and I’m probs gonna go full radicalised. Fuck the fucking fuckers. welcome to germany lol

Important post if you are in the UK 🇬🇧 Plz share with or tag other Brits. 🧵 Thread A Tax-Efficient Way to Spend Your #Bitcoin While Supporting the Network and Keeping Your Holdings Intact! One way to spend Bitcoin, help decentralize the network, and move BTC off exchanges without triggering a taxable event is through a strategic spending and repurchase approach. Here’s how it works ⬇️ Step 1: Spend #Bitcoin at a vendor who accepts it as payment. This ensures you're using Bitcoin in the way it was designed—as a decentralized currency. You're also supporting businesses that accept Bitcoin directly. 💳⚡️ Step 2: Within 30 days of making the purchase, buy back the same amount of Bitcoin. This is key to ensuring that you retain your original holdings without being exposed to market volatility. 🔄 The magic behind this strategy is the 30-day rule. In the UK, this rule prevents you from claiming a tax loss on an asset if you buy it back within 30 days, but it also means you inherit the original cost basis if no profit is made. By rebuying the Bitcoin within the 30-day window, you effectively reset your position at the original purchase price, meaning no capital gains or losses are realized. This way, no taxable event occurs, and your Bitcoin stays in your hands! 💼🛡️ Not only does this method keep your tax position intact, but it also moves Bitcoin off exchanges, which enhances decentralization and strengthens the Bitcoin network. You continue to hold Bitcoin with your initial cost basis, tax-free. 🏛️🔐 In summary: Spend BTC at a vendor Buy back the same amount within 30 days Maintain your original cost basis, avoiding tax implications Support the Bitcoin ecosystem by transacting on-chain 🌍⚡️ #Bitcoin #CryptoTax #BitcoinNetwork #SpendAndHODL #TaxPlanning THIS THREAD IS FROM THIS ACCOUNT; Stolen from The Secret Investor - Tax accountant on twitter. image

I can’t believe I’m giving bitcoin interviews in French 🇫🇷 If I could tell my 19 year old self that in my 30s I would be giving fully fluent (or fluent enough) bitcoin interviews in French while in Switzerland having hosted a talk at a bitcoin conference… …He would’ve looked at the joint he’s smoking and said Sacré bleu, bro! Did I buy skunk not weed? Big thanks to @HowToBitcoin for having me on. Merci Les gars !!

I was meeting someone in the Bank of England for a coffee sadly there is ZERO footage except this selfie I snuck in the foyer. They’re v strict about cameras. There is an original Roman mosaic in the floor of the Bank of England (v v cool). And there is a Governor’s Gardener which only the governor can go in. Wanker. There are lots of gold trinkets and historic artefacts like gold weighing scales and spots to hang your top hat and hook your umbrella I had a heavily subsidised Full English breakfast And did a tiny bit of work on my laptop which is covered in bitcoin stickers hahaha I also sold a bit of btc to pay fiat things while in the uk on coincorner in the lobby coz I’m crazy like that. Also zapped myself. lol. I just wanted to do something bitcoin related in a central bank 🤣 I won’t be able to shoot content there just yet… soon I hope Also I’m really jet lagged and I look knackered but that’s life innit ✌🏻 💜 View quoted note → image

Okay this is odd but kinda interesting. So I watched this clip a few times cos I edited it in the car and noticed that the shop manager does something odd. I asked “all good on your end?” In the clip when I got the green tick from @primal notice how the shop manager doenst check his phone he just puts it away. AND there isn’t the green tick on his phone screen that you would usually expect to see when my phone shows the tick. I was like Dafuq is going on?! So I went back to the shop and asked him how they accept btc. Turns out he had received the invoice as a screenshot from his boss in a WhatsApp message. He was showing me that screenshot AND because he knew I was filming as i asked permission, he wanted it to look slick. Very kind of him, sure but it makes me feel a bit weird about sharing this clip as “I paid in bitcoin at this shop.” I mean I did, technically, but the real story is more complicated. Note that I’d been to this shop 4 days ago to buy a SIM card in btc and I hadn’t realised at the time that he must have done the same thing: Ping his boss the request for the invoice and he showed me the screenshot.
