When Jesus said, "Sell everything and give to the poor..." it doesn't mean what you were told it means.... Here's the context 👇
When Jesus entered Judea a rich young ruler approached him and asked how to inherit eternal life. Jesus told Him,
"You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’ ” (Mark 10:19)
The rich young man said, "I have kept these from my youth!"
Then Jesus looked at him and LOVED him and said, "You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the POOR, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” (Mark 10:21)
The man went away sorrowful because he was very rich. Jesus then says,
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:25)
People were astonished asking, "Who then can be saved?" Now that's a peculiar question, did the people think rich people enter the Kingdom before poor people? No, this is where context matters.
The rich young ruler was not just a rich guy. He wasn't a builder who made his wealth contributing to the regions economy. He was a "ruler," part of the Sanhedrin, the religious ruling elite in Jerusalem. The people were astonished because Jesus said, THESE rich people have difficulty entering the kingdom.
But this rich young ruler was a religious elite, inheriting his seat of religious esteem from familial lineage! How can HE not enter the kingdom???
Jesus told him to "NOT DEFRAUD" and "NOT STEAL." Why? Because that is PRECISELY how his wealth was acquired. A sophisticated religious racket had formed which this young ruler became wealthy on.
When Jesus told him to sell everything and give to the poor, essentially what He said was, "Sell everything you gained by fraud, and give it BACK to those you stole from!" He was calling him to REPENT!
This is not a blanket condemnation of wealth, but a specific condemnation of fraud, especially fraud perpetrated by ruling elites and those who become wealthy without adding real value.
Jesus never condemns wealthy people who WORKED for their wealth, only those who were societal leeches.
Fiat money amplifies this sort of fraud with an infinite money printer. #Bitcoin mitigates this with finality of supply and value creation incentives!!!
Romans 13:3, government function, "taxation" and the limitation clause we all forget.
"For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,"
Rulers are supposed to be a terror to BAD conduct, not to good. When governing authorities become tyrannical, it is our duty to defy them and obey God.
Romans 13 tells us to pay taxes to the authorities who are ministers of God who are "attending to this very thing." What thing? Being a terror to bad conduct.
He tells us to pay taxes to whom taxes are OWED. Owed, being the key word. The word taxes is the Greek "Phoros" and has the sense, "Tribute - payment from one nation to another for protection and as an acknowledgement of submission."
This tax is to be paid to the authorities for their legitimate service of punishing bad conduct and rewarding good. It is not an arbitrary payment extracted from the populace to make government fatter. It is owed for services rendered. And a specific service, ADMINISTERING JUSTICE.
Thats it. Government has no biblical precedent to steal your wealth for any reason. Not to build infrastructure, not for health care, not for welfare, not for anything.
They are to be paid tribute because they are owed for administering God's justice with the sword God gave them. This is their legitimately ordained function, and paying them to do this function is not theft because you are paying for services rendered, services GOD ordained them to perform.
This is not to say we should withhold taxes from our governments who have clearly stepped outside their ordained role. We should, but as we do, we need to expose that it is theft and wrong and that they need to get back in their ordained lane. It is the churches job to disciple the nations and teach government where their legitimate authority ends.
Not rebuking them for stealing wealth from the people to fund things that are outside their sphere of influence is unloving.
No where in the bible does the government get authority to, tax your land, tax your income, tax your energy, tax your death or tax your food. Their only legitimate area where you owe them payment is for administering righteous justice and punishment of evil in service to God.
Remember the limitation clause. Paul here is not praising the wicked pagan Roman Empire, he is laying out the TRUE function of government how God intended it. He is also exhorting Christians to live as good citizens even in a wicked system while the Gospel goes forth and transforms hearts.
God rained bread 🍞 from heaven!!!
The other day I was very discouraged 😞. I was out working and talking to my wife on the phone when suddenly out of the corner of my eye I saw something fall and heard the thump on the ground.
I looked and exclaimed, "I think a piece of bread just fell from the sky?!"
Did it come from a bird who dropped it? I don't know, probably. But I took it as a sign from God. In my moment of discouragement and doubt, bread fell from the sky.
God still communicates with us everyday, His voice is loud, we're just often deaf and hard of hearing.

Why would God command Abraham to sacrifice his son??? Because God hates child sacrifice. Let me explain 👇👇👇
In Abraham's time, gods requiring child sacrifice was NOT uncommon. As a matter of fact, Abraham's forefathers worshiped pagan gods,
"And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods." Joshua 24:2
This makes sense of the omission of any hesitation or confusion on Abraham's part. While he loved Isaac, gods and child sacrifice were common, perhaps YHWH requires child sacrifice too?
As you know, God stops Abraham from from sacrificing Isaac at the last second. YHWH was setting Himself apart from the gods of the nations. He will not require the blood of YOUR sons, He will provide the sacrifice with HIS Divine Son.
God commanded the Israelites, Abraham's descendants,
"When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering," Deuteronomy 18:9-10
The message of the story is clear: YHWH does NOT require child sacrifice like the gods of the surrounding nations, HE HATES IT!
Despite that and His clear command, Israel STILL succumbed to pagan child sacrifice worship later in their history.
God came in the person of Jesus, the Son, to be our sacrifice once for all.
Abraham told Isaac, God will provide the sacrifice. He proved a Ram that day. But many years later He hung on a cross, providing the ultimate sacrificial provision!

In Genesis 1:2, God says, "Fiat Lux." Let there be light.
God created everything out of His divine fiat. Only He has the ability to create objectively valuable things by fiat.
The sin of man is grounded and flows out of an attempt to BE GOD.
This was the lie of the serpent, "You will be like God, knowing good and evil." This was the first carnal fiat lie ever uttered.
You can be like God, even defining good and evil.
Enter trans mania and wokeism. It's the same old lie. Transgenderism is a fiat decree, "I am not a boy, I am a girl, despite the fact all evidence points to the contrary."
They believe they can simply decree their own gender. But God has already made the fiat decree, just because you say otherwise, doesn't change anything.
This is the core of all sin, carnal fiat. It's at the core of fiat money. Governments play God and decree value where there is none and force this new value on everyone by threat of force. This is a privilege they don't have, it is cosmic rebellion.
