Leng Jun makes art like he's still living on a sound money standard (2004). Meanwhile, modern fiat artists: image

I'm back after a stomach flu or gastritis or whatever it was. Knocked me out for 3 days and disconnected me from everything. Occasionally read a bit here and there, but not much more. Still not at 100%. It's always interesting though, how most of the stuff here seems like artificial bullshit when you start scrolling through your timeline again. Even without algorithms, it seems like the desire for attention makes people virtue signal more.

I'm a bit jealous. Something like that's been floating around in the back of my mind for a while too. Seriously, screw all this crap. What's the point of it all anyway? View quoted note →

I just had a nostalgic moment and wondered how snort.social is doing (apparently it's called Phoenix now) and logged in there. Phoenix, formerly known as Snort, formerly known as Iris has somehow had quite a turbulent history and was often unstable at times, which is why many users moved on. It was also one of my first clients. But it seems to have improved since then. It's somehow fast and smooth now and has all the essential features. Is anyone here a Phoenix user?

In football, I like the playmaker, the assist provider, the classic number 10 position more than the number 9 who just scores goals. Michael Laudrup, with his exceptional vision, was a master of this playmaking role.

TIL: A Mac system indexes every drive, that's connected to it (like external USB drives). You can prevent that by simply adding an empty .metadata_never_index file to the drive's root directory. touch /Volumes/YOUR_DRIVE/.metadata_never_index

There's nothing more satisfying than watching an old pro at work.

Correct. That's also a well-known mess. I used to like @Alby , but more and more it's coming out how much they screwed up from the beginning, and all these fixes they're making afterward aren't helping anymore, they're actually making things worse. Perfect example of how broken the onboarding process is. These days I prefer using Flamingo or Nostr Connect as key signers on desktop. And just to say it again: I'm totally aware how tough it is to do decentralized development on one ecosystem, but it's 2025 and we've got free competition. If you can't get it right, you'll be replaced by someone who can do the job better. You all just need better and more flexible project management with an eye constantly on the market and fully integrated automated testing. Not just unit tests, but real E2E and integration tests too. What's also interesting is how the die-hard community reacts to legitimate criticism. These self-righteous freedom fighters get super sensitive and show cult-like behavior. A reminder: Healthy community → handles criticism positively. Cult → you can't question or criticize anything or you're out. Look at how they've been dealing with @John Carvalho lately. Absolutely no maturity. And these cult clowns don't even realize how they're shooting themselves in the foot. History is never kind to such blockheads. These early heroes don't get that the wind is changing because their ugly face is showing. And other people aren't stupid, they're watching what's happening right now too. View quoted note →

Daily reminder: Bitcoin price is not rising. This is not an ATH. It's just fiat devaluing rapidly. They're printing money like crazy. BTC ATH was at 41 oz gold. We're at 35,36 oz now. Let that sink in.

Only very few people know, that Sharp Character Display (1983) represents a pivotal technology that significantly changed the course of computing development in several ways: - It helped democratize color graphics capabilities at a time when most computer displays were still monochrome (green, amber, or white phosphor on black). - The ability to display complex color visualizations, as shown in that 3D wireframe model, opened new possibilities for scientific, engineering, and business applications that previously required specialized and much more expensive equipment. - This type of display technology helped bridge the gap between purely text-based computing and the graphical user interfaces that would later dominate computing. - The introduction of affordable color displays accelerated software development in areas like computer-aided design (CAD), scientific visualization, and early computer graphics—fields that fundamentally shaped modern computing. I still remember seeing one of those for the first time. We were just blown away, like we were looking at something out of this world. image

Last year, I wrote a guide on how to create backups using rsync on Mac and Linux. Many people around me use these strange programs with graphical user interfaces that end up letting them down when they actually need to restore their backups. Today, I expanded the article to include a section on how to automate these backups with cronjob.

So if this is the new ATH, then the value of the Dollar itself has significantly decreased against the Euro. Because Bitcoin isn't yet at a value of 100,000€. But it was already there earlier this year. That means, when you blockheads out there define terms like ATH and measure it in Dollars, you're falling for the same fiat phenomenon, devaluation through inflation, that the fiat guys fall for. And Trump robs you faster than our German politicians rob us.
