Now I ask: "Would I want this in my home?"
Because if I wouldn't want to live with that painting, why should anyone else?
Art isn't a compromise. It's not "making something that will sell."
It's telling the truth and hoping someone recognizes their own in that truth.
When I paint for myself, I paint for those who are like me.
When I paint to sell, I paint for no one.

But after clouds, flowers, and waves — I had to ask:
What's left when you remove everything recognizable?
Not nothing.
An echo.
You don't need to understand it.
You just need to feel it.
