The joined up thinking of Nostr is so refreshing. This exercise of claiming a feed, a completely open source feed, has really highlighted how overbearing and intrusive the big guns like Spotify, Amazon and Youtube are. Fountain and the podcast 2.0 movement stands out - the business model is fantastic. And along with other platforms like TuneIn and Pocketcast, they simply take an RSS feed and do what you would expect - add it to their library. Contrast that to the convolutions and intrusiveness of the big guns setting their own rules. The sooner they are irrelevant, the better.

I'm managing to keep Up a Nostr hosted #podcast on painting and decorating! It's showing Up on Fountain even. Episode 4. In 1986-7 I built up a unique skillset in the smallest NGO in África, successfully renovating several schools in Sudan. On our return, I couldnt get a job with aid agencies who had access to the kind of resources we could only dream of. @gladstein might be interested in that part of the story! On the #painting side, having a trade gave me so many options and I went on a 20 year globetrot developing a broad set of practical decorating skills. I was also curious about product development and benefited from seeing the Next Big Things before they hit the insular UK market. The culmination of that stage of my journey was a lightbulb moment joining the dots between trade and DIY decorating.

How long before they work out how to use these robots to decorate and paint everyday homes? A long time, I think. Remedial work is so complicated compared to the knowns of new build.

Wells can run dry. I'd focus on capturing what falls out the sky.

In 2009 most painters were still dependent on Yellow Pagés. In 2025 most painters are still dependent on Youtube, Facebook and a few on Twitter.. Wakey wakey, Theres a well conceived new kid in town. Nostr is the future for painters, plumbers, sparkies and chippies online.

My main childhood memories are of the 70's, a different time, or was it? Inflation was definitely a thing.
