How can we be sure we are doing the right thing? How do we know what is or would be for our own good... ...unless, over a very long period, we observed matched areas of interest and compared the effects? There would be technical difficulties given the volatility of the situation. We are on a cusp. What passes for truth often has to travel at the speed of failing memories, changing attitudes, and new generations. Our attempts to filter become part of the noise. We are unable to bring any more thought to bear on the matter than that which leads us to try and simplify what can only be understood by coming to terms with its complexity.
