GM Nostr friends. Just ran across a funny photo from a few nights ago on the rare occasion that Lu stayed on Hubby's lap long enough for me to snap a photo. (She usually goes to him for about 30 seconds to get some butt scratches, and then jumps down to come back to me.) Love these two. 🥰 Happy Friday, all!

GM Nostr friends. It's Thursday. Hubby and I are starting to talk about becoming semi-permanent snowbirds after retirement, hopefully somewhere in northern Arizona or somewhere similar. (We don't want the Tucson degrees of heat.) Despite living my whole life in Minnesota and being "used to it", I've always hated winter. We got another couple inches of snow last night after having almost a week of Spring-like weather. I'm so excited at the thought of being somewhere warm in the colder months. No more snow. No falling on tricky patches of ice. Just warmth and not a flake in the sky (or maybe just a dusting - I'm okay with that.) Ahh. 🌵☀️

Deleted my Whatsapp and Discord accounts a few days ago. Toooooo much creepy oversight and AI slop getting thrown in without users' consent. Now if I could get rid of FB (Hubby and his fam all use it), and find my good memes somewhere other than Instagram, I'd be all set. (Already don't use Tiktok or any of the other "kiddie" social media apps.)

GM Nostr friends. Windy, cloudy, and rainy here today. It's also Trash Day for my neighborhood, so the wind has taken all sorts of bits out of cans and scattered them around. Ew, and also sigh. I try to do my part and pick up bits of trash when I take Lu out for walks, so it looks like I'm gonna need to bring a bag with me today. Headed out to hotpot with Hubby, our mutual friend Amy (who works with him), and their other friend who did also work with them, but got fired on Friday. (Long story.) Oy, it's going to be all work talk over dinner. At least the food will be good? Have a good day, all!

GA Nostr friends. Just got home from the dentist. All squeaky clean, and no cavities! 💪 Quiet day here. I had Lu in her new kennel while I was at the dentist. Thankfully I had put a diaper on her, as she peed while I was gone. We're trying to get her used to the kennel so we don't have to worry about her having accidents all over the house, but she's an old pup (14 in April), and I'm not sure if the new situation is working. At least our camera caught her lying down in the kennel so she wasn't as anxious as last time, but it's still hard leaving her knowing she's scared.

GM Nostr friends. Another Monday is here. I woke up about 45 minutes before I was supposed to get up, but just lay in bed enjoying it and started to fall back asleep. Now I'm up for real and more tired than if I had just gotten out of bed earlier. 🙄 Going to go enjoy my coffee, and try to get my brain running. Have a good day, all!

Why I'm not afraid of AI taking over: Trying to finish my dad's taxes, but I need his SSA-1099 income form. Haven't received it yet. Tried to sign into the Social Security Admin website, it wanted pics of his license and a selfie (uh...best I can do is a pic of his urn?). Finally gave up and called, and got stuck in a loop with their automated service. Confirmed his info, told it what I wanted, and then it tried to tell me I should just go do it online, it's faster. NO IT IS NOT. At least another two rounds of trying to get somewhere before it finally put me through to an actual human. I explained the situation, she confirmed his info again, and then said she would issue a new copy of the form. Probably a two minute conversation start to finish, whereas I spent at least double that with the friggin' answer bot. Rawr.

I would really love some kind of Bitcoin/Nostr conference event happening in or around the US Midwest this summer. Anyone want to make this happen? (I am NOT a good event planner, but I would love to volunteer and meet folks in person.) Serious FOMO seeing folks attending conferences on the coasts or oversees! 😢

Y'all, I must not be feeling well. I did not want coffee this morning. Correction, I guess: I did not want to make my own coffee this morning. I would've been happy with an iced can of coffee. (I ended up making my own because I'm lazy and too cheap to drive to a shop and wait in line to spend $5.)

GM Nostr friends. So I've been around here for over a year now, and I'm trying to think if I can summarize my general approach to this new world of social media. I think I try to spread a little cheer and gentle encouragement. I have tried to be deliberate about it, because I am generally pretty sarcastic and more unfiltered in my face-to-face interactions. Nostr is the first online space where I've felt a sense of ownership, where instead of being the product, I am part owner. As such, I want to bring a sense of welcome to any who stumble to this corner of the internet, and make people feel seen (read?). Anyway, I dunno. Everybody doing okay today? I did a workout on my stationary bike last night, and now my butt is achy this morning.
