GM Nostr friends. My back hurts. Maybe I slept wrong? It's a cool, blustery, beautifully sunny Fall morning. Leaves are changing in the neighborhood, and it sure seems like Autumn is settling in for a stay.
Yesterday I started listening to Derek and Heather's new podcast, Soapbox Sessions (on Fountain), and it's like hanging out with a couple of friends around a table having some laughs, learning about some cool stuff, and just chilling. Love it. Good job, guys!

We've been having trouble with the wiring in our house, specifically the two upstairs bedrooms. Last night the breaker kept popping. One of us would go down to the garage to reset it, and before we could even walk away from the panel, the breaker would pop again. Hubby finally did something to get it to stay on through the night so we could charge our phones, but we had to run an extension cord from the bathroom to get a fan to circulate some air.
Got an electrician coming sometime tomorrow. Really hoping they only have to replace the breaker and not the whole panel, but we know the wiring in this place is pretty wonky. Sigh. The joys of home ownership, sometimes.
Lu has been getting sick from both ends quite often lately, and I'm wondering if she is maybe lactose intolerant. Her breakfast usually is a pinch of shredded cheese with her kibble, so today I gave her only kibble and she might have crunched a piece or two, but was overall very unimpressed and hardly touched it. Going to see if that makes a difference. Fingers crossed.

Man, I'm achy today. Maybe it's something with the weather. Or I'm just feeling old after all the cleaning and organizing this weekend. We made a pretty good dent in a lot of clutter around the house. The newest home issue now is that the power keeps blowing in our bedroom, and then one of us has to tromp downstairs to the garage (at 1:30 in the morning) grumbling all the way and reset the breaker.
I just set up an appointment for next week to finally have an electrician come out and help us figure out what's going on. We had just started talking about getting out of town for a few days, but I have a feeling this is going to be expensive. Bye bye weekend vacation.

Cleaning weekend continues with our extra day off. Vacuuming, organizing, getting rid of duplicate items, etc. Almost makes me excited to go back to work. Almost.
We got our new water-cooled bed mat system last night, and....it works. I was shivering under the covers, but too tired to pull out my phone to adjust the temp. Didn't sleep great. I think it will be trial and error for a while until I get it dialed in.

Just watched my dog drag her butt across the carpet...while we maintained constant eye contact. Not sure how to feel about that.
Anyway, GM Nostr friends. Beautiful cool Sunday morning here. Hubs went to go fill his tank and get a car wash before we head to church in a bit, so I'm just enjoying the quiet for a bit while I catch up on what's new.
Planning on tidying up all the cords around my desk today, but it is going to be an effort. We'll see if I still have the motivation later! 😮💨

Going to organize my closet and downsize some. Never a bad idea to get rid of things I haven't used in a long time. I always feel good after my space is less chaotic. Unfortunately, I live with someone who is a bit of a tornado when it comes to leaving his things everywhere, so my anxiety runs a bit higher than it used to. 😬

It is, in fact, Friday.
I ran out of coffee concentrate yesterday, so just made an extra strong chai this morning. Pretty tasty, but I'm guessing not enough caffeine to prevent me from getting a headache later.
Hubby took off today so he could spend some hours cleaning out his mom's house. So much still to be done...it's going to be months yet before the house can go up for sale. (His mom moved into an assisted living facility near us back in May.)
Not much planned for this long weekend. Hubs will be working at the house, and I guess I'll do some cleaning? Gotta find a new vet for Lu. Our current place is great but incredibly expensive, and she's due for her next checkup soon.
Going to finish catching up on my Primal feed, and get back to work. Have a good one, y'all!

Minneapolis school shooting suspect Robin Westman, what we know
I live in a suburb of St. Paul, the "twin" city of Minneapolis. While not all that close, this is still home. I did my undergrad at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I spent a lot of time in Minneapolis. While I myself was raised Lutheran, my dad was originally Catholic.
These were just babies. The article has a photo of a distraught mother holding her son who must be between 5 and 7 years old, and that's what brought me to tears today.
It's so easy to become callous to all the shootings that happen across our country. But these are all people, just living their lives. Expecting to get home, maybe lounge on the couch or eat a bowl of cereal or take a shower and go to bed. But they never again get to go home.
I'm not writing to propose any kind of solution. I don't have one. I just...this hurts so much. It always does, and I hope I never stop hurting when I hear of more lives just gone in a blink of pain and fear.

Almost forgot to post my baby for National Dog Day! My Lulu is sweet, sassy, and an absolute butthead sometimes, but I wouldn't have her any other way.
Today has been a bit insane with work, and I can feel the stress in my neck, back, and shoulders. Trying to be an adult and keep my chin up, so I took Lu out for her walk a bit earlier than usual.
As expected, I'm trying to walk her and answer a message from someone on my team when a flutter of movement kind of jars me out of my heads-down moment.
A little dragonfly - maybe two inches long and shimmery blue-green - landed on the side edge of my phone. It stayed there a good thirty seconds while I walked, and we just stared at each other before it eventually fluttered off.
Sometimes I think God uses little things to remind us to just breathe and trust that He's got things under control when we feel out of control.
Anyway, it made me smile. I put my phone away and enjoyed the rest of the walk.
