We have Lu's follow up vet appointment this afternoon to see if her eye is healing. I'm praying that it's had enough time that we can take her cone off. She's had so many (literal) run-ins with the stairs lately that she's becoming hesitant to go up or down, leaving me to carry her both ways. Not that I don't love snuggling Her Fuzziness, but often I have my hands full already. I'm remembering 9/11 from 25 years ago today. I was a freshman in college, barely two weeks into it when the planes hit the towers. My radio alarm clock had some news announcements going off when I woke up that day, but I didn't stop to listen as I got ready for my day. Made it to my first class and barely anyone was there - our TA mentioned something had happened in NYC. I left class and walked back to my dorm, where we had a TV room that fit probably around 200 people. The space was packed as everyone was gathered in clusters, watching replays of the planes hitting the Twin Towers. I found my roommate who was freaking out and crying, as she had family in NY and wasn't able to get through to them (they were in upstate NY, and were fine - phone lines were just tied up from everyone having the same idea). The next days were just a blur as everyone tried to process what had happened while also staying glued to the news and trying to capture every bit of commentary. I went home that weekend, and remember my dad mentioning how weird it was that there were no planes overhead. Life felt a lot less simple after that.

GM Nostr friends. Hubby and I went on a river cruise last night. While the boat was kind of old and in rough shape, the dinner they provided (advertised as fajitas, but really just taco fixins) and the views were fabulous. We had an amazing sunset, with pink clouds gradually darkening into cotton candy.

GM Nostr friends, happy Labor Day to my fellow Americans. Quiet day here. Hubby is out putzing in the garage. Just finished my coffee and got a load of laundry in the wash while I scroll for a while. Funny story from last night: I thought I'd try using a coconut lime exfoliating scrub I'd bought ages ago (that Hubby excavated from under the bathroom sink), and rubbed it into both arms and left leg. Quickly realized that it was slimy and wasn't washing off. Seeing as how I was in the shower, I wasn't really using my nose at the time, so when I did take a sniff, I got a rotten/sour smell and realized the oil in it had gone rancid. I then proceeded to take another shower, this time using a combination of shampoo and Hubby's body wash to rinse the stink off me. The smell was all over the bathroom and bedroom for ages. We had to use a liberal dose of air fresheners to get rid of it. :blobnauseated: The expiration date on the container said the end of this month, so I thought I was safe. Lesson learned: always smell your shower products before applying.

GA Nostr friends. My dog has officially had enough of her cone. I have to step in and help when she tries to scratch her ear. Now she's attempting to lick my leg, and simultaneously scratching me with the plastic as she pushes closer. This week cannot go fast enough. :blobdisapproval:

GM Nostr friends. Awoken by Hubby around 4 this morning as Lu had a few accidents overnight. I cleaned up, but it took me forever to fall back asleep. Welcome to September, all!

Good afternoon Nostr friends. Well, Sunday turned interesting. Lu's right eye was watering noticeably after we got home from church, and she kept pawing at it, so Hubby suggested we take her to the pet ER. Turns out she has an ulcer on that eye, and has to be in a cone of shame to let her eye heal with the help of some ointment I rub in it 3x daily. Poor girl. We still made it to the fair today, while she hung out at our regular vet's office for a few hours. I ate too much sugar early on and felt a little sick, and then the rest of what I tried didn't hit the spot. We got sick of crowds pretty quickly, so only spent about two hours there. It was pretty dang humid as well, so nice to be home and showered now.

GM Nostr friends. Quiet Sunday morning, sipping my coffee, waiting for Hubby to finish shaving and getting ready before we head out to church. (Yes, I am already set to go.) Lu is curled up in her bed, and for some reason the AC is blasting, so it's freezing in here, and so I covered her up. Enjoy your Sunday, all.
