A friendly reminder that your npub can’t be deleted, even if your client has a β€œDelete Account” option. Keys are just numbers. Your published posts will stay on relays indefinitely. On a traditional platform, your entire profile becomes invisible to other users, but the data is still retained. What actually happens here is that your profile will be flagged as deleted and some (but not all) clients will check for this and prevent you from signing in again. App stores (specifically Apple) often insist that Nostr developers include this feature to gain approval. It’s meaningless, but their platform-based policies are incompatible with open protocols. Anyway, you should also know that deletion is reversible. You can publish a new event to replace the delete flag and in most cases, you’re back in business. And of course, there’s an app for that.

Good thing the normies never came here and asked us why we used such a fun-sounding word for something so serious as sound money changing hands. View quoted note β†’
