Everyone wants to be successful after a year or two but it’s typically not until years 8-10 until your abilities and understandings crystallize into master level. Experiencing all failure modes and the time needed to trial and error better modules can’t really be skipped or faked. This goes for almost everything, not just trades or professions. Imho

Know your strengths (where you can win) and bring circumstances there by any means necessary; in fighting or in life. There is no one size fits all strategy but you’re ahead of 90% of the population if you have a strategy at all.
