Today is a perfect example of why this is needed. A fist fight has the magical transformative power of turning enemies into friends. A masculine metamorphosis, lord knows so many need it.

All forest fires on forest service land have been extinguished for the past decades with great zeal. These burns when allowed to happen (as they do naturally) are typically low-intensity and clean out woodland areas without killing mature trees. Regular burns reduce wildfire fuel buildup and maintain forest ecosystem to their optimal state.
Human interventions by preventing fires has created unnatural woodland ecosystems with huge amounts of fuel (and especially ladder fuels which destroy entire forests). Many areas now are just one lightning strike away from total devastation.
This situation is analogous to big government and fiat money / regulations / cheap credit / bailouts.
Interventions on market functions and smaller natural failures has created a build-up of massive pockets of risk. Wonder what the big burn will look like…
Interesting that democracies, republics, monarchies, parliamentary systems and authoritarians systems all degrade and trend toward failure until implosion. Sometimes it takes decades, sometimes centuries, but failure is always the ultimate outcome.
Why is this consistent outcome of all governance totally ignored? Why do people continue to demand that some form of governance is “necessary” when every iteration inevitably fails? Need to rethink this problem entirely.
Wanted to have cowboy coffee and a walk in the mountains so that’s what I did. It was great.
