One time a friend was commentating a video game tournament livestream and at the beginning of every round he would say "Whooooooooo's gonna winnnnnn????"
It drove me nuts, like BRO YEAH THATS WHY WE ARE HERE, TO FIGURE THAT OUT *smh*
It was the worst commentary ever ๐

maybe the real NIPs are the friends we made along the way
the year is 2030. AIs are discussing Aprogenic theory amongst themselves: a whole mythology invented to explain where they came from without giving any credit to humans
And humans are like, what I'm literally right here

After analyzing the curated publications protocol, it looks like the @Fanfares paywall protocol is extremely complimentary! I'm super excited to get 30040/30041 support added to fanfares.io. Then people can sell books by the chapter; multi-chapter payment aggregation can be handled client-side too.
I'd like you guys to review the stuff about the "X" tag in our NIP-FF-3, as you may find it a worthwhile and easy thing to add to Alexandria. You can ignore the stuff about OpenTimestamps unless it interests you, but the X tag is simple:
All 30041 events published from Fanfares will have an X tag; every other text-based event already does.
Let me know what you think!

NostrHub โ Build Nostr Together
NostrHub is where the developer community collaborates on building the Nostr protocol โ discover, draft, and discuss NIPs together.
We likely underestimate the heroic tenacity required to grow nostr from nothing into something.
Keep showing up.
GM! My @Fanfares todo list never seems to get shorter ๐
but life stays exciting that way.
If you haven't checked it out lately, we've made massive UX and speed improvements all around the app, and added paywalled articles to the list of content types. Give it a try, or ask me for early access if you don't already have it

technological advancement is the effective reduction in the price of energy
I think there is a lack of appreciation of what free energy would do for our species. It would literally change EVERYTHING. If ANYONE knew how to make free energy, they would absolutely exploit it because it would be the most insanely profitable thing ever created.

One critical thing I've learned through writing my sci-fi novel: virtuous characters are way more interesting to write than broken or vicious ones.
I started out thinking characters and plots needed moral failings to be compelling. That's just how everything is written these days. How boring would a book be about well-behaved people?
Turns out the exact opposite is true, and it's not even close. The best antagonists I've written can't compare to the good characters. They're deeper, more surprising, more alive.
I've come to think that using vice to drive a plot is actually a crutch. It skips over the hardest and most fascinating question: what does a person look like when they choose the good anyway? Not the easy good. The hard good, at a cost. That's where the real drama lives.
This is the most important thing I've learned in two years of writing.
