The Nostr slow growth/low engagement discussion has been fun. The UI/UX of most Nostr apps is fine at this point, so the conversation is basically accepting that, "It's not your looks, it's your personality." We're just off-putting, and that's okay. image

I've never seen Severance, which apparently prompted this debate, but I've seen so many takes about what would qualify as a 130 IQ tv show. I'm pretty sure it would be something like It's Always Sunny, because this graph has never let me down. image

I see degenerate psychopaths vandalizing cybertrucks, and then I see Elon tweeting videos of people bashing the shit out of them to demonstrate their toughness. I'm not equating the two, maybe we cool it with cybertruck shit for a day.

So the Florida Goldback launched with new denominations of 1/2, 2, and 100 that the other states do not have, so do they eventually go back and add new designs for those states that match the originals? Seems like they'd have to even though they're moving ahead with 2 more states.

I used to love the SNES vs Genesis console war stuff, especially when it came to sound. To me, the SNES just sounded better because it used samples. The Genesis used FM synth and most of it sucked, but a real artist could make that console fucking sing.

In 20 years we're all going to be really nostalgic for the AI slop that we're being spoonfed now. There will be a retro-slop movement where weird, over-polished and sureal visuals (and an excessive amount of extra fingers) are cool and stylish.

I just read the story about Tony Hawk forcing Activision to include Bam Margera in THPS 3+4. It definitely made me smile this morning. Stand-up guy.

That feeling when you have an original thought (or one that apparently hasn't hit the internet yet), and you know its funny, but you just don't want to engage with the current thing.

I'm slowly coming back around to emulation. I've been a real hardware zealot for a long time, but I found I was spending more time tinkering with stuff than actually playing games. I think a handheld of some sorts is on my horizon.

Look, as an American, I can admit that gaming history is very US-centric and that crash in '83 didn't affect Europe which had its own thing. That said, I've found literally nothing on the ZX Spectrum or C64 that compares to Mario, Mega Man, Castlevania or Zelda, so I don't care.

Ubisoft should steer into things and release a game where you can time travel and bang every notable person in history's sister. When you get called out for doing something stupid, don't let off the gas, step on it.

I know this is extremely niche, but I could really use a Lean Six Sigma Wojak right now throw around at work.

The good thing about the JFK files is that everyone gets to walk away with more stuff for their favorite theory. You can even mix and match, or combine them all: LBJ, Bush Sr., the mob, Israel, the CIA, the FBI, the Russians, Castro - The all-star team of the century.

I wonder if more people would consider themselves Trump supporters if it meant they had the opportunity to fight Tim Walz.

AI will do amazing things when it comes to cover letters. We will have AI writing everyone's cover letter, and then AI reading everyone's cover letter, and then hopefully we will all realize that cover letters were always a meaningless waste of time in the employment process.
