This is the mess that is getting tore down and cleaned up for my “re-villaging” project. These three buildings will be removed, then the lot will get tilled, compost, wood chips and peat added, and get refenced. It will be a little late for gardening this season at this latitude, but it will be nice soil by next spring.

I call it Front Porch Nationalism. If I can’t see it or hear it from my front porch, it probably is out of my control and not worth wasting time, energy, or mental bandwidth on. If I can see or hear it, my interested (and those of my immediate neighbors) are served by dealing with it one way or the other. If everyone adopted this policy, our neighborhoods (and states and nation) would all be better for it.

I am contributing to the reverse gentrification (maybe villagefication, is that a word?) of a rural town. I bought a foreclosed house on a few lots, and am tearing it down. Once the lots are bare, top soil will be added, irrigation installed, and some hugoculture beds built. With this space, a degree of food stability will be achieved, while reducing the inventory of junk houses and buildings in the town.

Why worry about countries settling debts in yuan or dollars? Work towards countries settling payments in BTC or sats.
