So some years back I got a welder. Hadn't welded since a a 'tech skills' class in college that included a two week stick welding class. A friend wanted to do a MIG class at Eastwood. We did that and according to the instructor I did well. After that I decided to try to fix a 'sun dial' thing that I got my wife years back and a limb fell down on. It was cast iron which I'd been told was challenging to weld. It wasn't pretty but good enough for my second time welding in 25 years and it worked, so I shared my results in a group that I was in on fecesbook.
