Listening to @Shawn interview @OpnState on @Trust Revolution and got intrigued by POLIS, Taiwan’s transparent governance platform, led by former Minister Audrey Tang.
I think we can (and should, and eventually will) implement something like POLIS on nostr. First, we need basic infrastructure to support decentralized personalized web of trust metrics. By infrastructure, I mean a marketplace of third party providers of personalized trust metrics. @Vertex is one example. My vision is for Brainstorm to become another. And I’d love to see more third party providers develop over time.
Brainstorm will communicate trust metrics in a variety of ways, one of which will be @Vitor Pamplona ‘s NIP-85, Trusted Assertions. The most important trust metric in NIP-85 is “rank” which is a number between 0 and 100. For Brainstorm-generated Trust Assertions (kind 30382 events), the “rank” score will be supplied by the GrapeRank score.
So imagine an ecosystem where every user has the opportunity to generate personalized trust metrics, including a “rank” metric which reliably screens out bots based on your trusted community. Could this be a building block for a nostr-POLIS? Yes. Absolutely.
