A few years back, Achachilabtc returned to his home country, Bolivia, to 'Bitcoinise it.' Since then, he and the team at Bitcoin Research (@BitcoinResearch) have made an incredible effort to do just that. They've built Bitcoin tools for the Bolivian context, onboarded over 100 merchants, and educated countless number of Bolivians about Bitcoin. And because transactional privacy is at the core of their mission, they've recently created their own Fedimint-based wallet service and have begun onboarding their community members to Fedi. India runs on UPI, which is a payment network connecting over 500 million consumers and 65 million merchants. To pay, you simply scan a QR code at the counter. He's since brought that vision to life in an exemplary fashion, as he and his team currently help organize 40 meetups per month across Indonesia, support @Code Orange Dev School (an open-source developer training program), and run @Bitcoin House Bali 🏝️. They've also even educated members of the office of Vice President of Indonesia about Bitcoin!
