Presidential candidates love to make promises about lowering income taxes. They just forget to mention that they don't even have that power. Instead of just being honest with voters and saying, "I promise to try to get Congress to do x, y, and z", they just lie and misrepresent the powers of the executive branch.

This is a perfect example of why we need KYC free cryptocurrency on and off ramps. If you are a domestic abuse victim trying to save up some crypto so you can afford to GTFO of your situation, then it's way less likely that your abuser will find out about it if you aren't forced to KYC. Not to mention there are countries in the world where women literally can't have their own bank account, they too need access to KYC free crypto services. Having something to hide doesn't mean you're a criminal.

I predict Trump's ego will lead to him accepting this 2nd debate challenge. Isn't there any non partisan venues available?😆Does anyone honestly expect ABC or CNN to not give Harris the questions ahead of time? Of course they would! It's not like if they got caught that anyone would change their vote based on it. Nooone would be punished.
Nobody on the left cared that the ABC moderators only fact checked Trump's lies and not Harris, or that the moderator was interjecting his own opinion (when he said,"it didn't sound like sarcasm to him"), which brought the whole debate down to the legitimacy level of a YouTuber debate instead of a presidential debate.
Well actually, the debates have always been illegitimate because they refuse to even let the largest 3rd party participate, even during the many elections in which Libertarians managed to jump through the burning bureaucratic hoops and were on the ballot in every state. The game is rigged against 3rd parties or anti establishment candidates(just ask Bernie Sanders).

Do Bitcoin L2s do a better job of driving value to Bitcoin than Ethereum L2s? If not now, will they in the future? 🤔 The whole "just build it on Bitcoin" thing used to sound like a bad joke, but now you actually can just build it on Bitcoin. What does that mean for Ethereum?
Hey everyone on Nostr! I'm trying out Nostr again, and wanted to introduce myself. I am a freelance writer, a freedom advocate, an amateur homesteader, and a privacy ninja. I don't believe that the government's authority is legitimate and I believe that the institution of government is responsible for more violence, misery, and death than any other group. Technology such as Bitcoin is one of the most important tools we have in the struggle for freedom worldwide. I discovered Bitcoin in 2017 but didn't understand it's importance until around 2019. I live my life almost entirely outside of the traditional financial system, for example I dont have a bank account. I believe that by working together, we can make a powerful circular economy outside of state control that is so large no one will need to use fiat at all. Give me a follow if you are interested in privacy, freedom tech, or the ideas of liberty.

The idea of the social contract, that is citizens consent to be governed and abide by the law in exchange for protection from their government, is a fantasy. Being born within imaginary boundaries on a map, something you have no control over, does not constitute consent. In any other contract, people understand that a child is not capable of consent. Somehow when it comes to this "social contract", they think you are able to consent to the state's rule from birth.
Even if the contract was valid, the government does not give a shit about protecting you, and they also want to take away your ability to protect yourself. An armed citizenry provides a check on the government's power, and the government always wants more power, therefore they don't want an armed citizenry.

So Trump says he supports Amendment 3, which would legalize recreational cannabis in Florida. Ron DeSantis and various "young republican organizations" oppose it. What? You would think younger republicans would be supportive of this. It used to be that younger people, even republicans, were more likely to be pro-cannabis. These kids need to get off of Tik Tok and go get high and if they are lucky, laid. Young people are doing less drugs and having less sex than prior generations and that's probably why they are so anxious 😆.
Also Harris says that Trump changing his position on cannabis is "blatant pandering" considering his record on the issue, which is true but it's also exactly what Kamala did! She aggressively prosecuted cannabis offenses during her career as the DA of San Francisco and then as the AG of California, and now she supports cannabis reform. Pandering or not, I think its a positive thing that both candidates have come out in support of cannabis, maybe cannabis will finally be rescheduled.

Claiming all wealthy people are dangerous or the oppressors is an example of the "affirming the consequent" fallacy. Just because the entire power structure that oppresses you is wealthy doesn't mean wealth in of itself is bad. Many wealthy people have never harmed anyone and some have been targets of the state themselves (Roger Ver is a good example). Stop demonizing success! Robbing rich people will not solve our problems. The true oppressors, the government, would love for you to direct your anger at wealth instead of them. By promising to steal from the rich and give it to the poor, they gain the support of the masses while they continue to subjugate them. Income inequality would be better addressed by removing regulations that prevent people from easily starting their own businesses, adopting sound money, ending taxes, ending the corporation itself as a protected structure, and ending government meddling in the markets and business entirely. Through regulations, politicians are able to craft legislation in a way that benefits their friends and special interests. With no regulations, everyone would be on a level playing field and inequality would decrease. Not having regulations doesn't mean businesses can do whatever they want! Without the corporate structure to hide behind, business owners would be liable for the actions of their business. If they cause harm to someone, that person would have the right to seek restitution or defend themselves.
Imagine if Hitler and Stalin came back from the dead and won the Republican and Dem. primaries, and MLK Jr. was running 3rd party. The winner would still be Hitler or Stalin because sheeple would be too worried about wasting a vote to vote for MLK. Vote for Stalin, because he's not Hitler! Don't split the vote! 👎

Harris wants to institute price controls to protect you from "greedy" grocery stores. Food prices have nothing to do with corporate greed, grocery stores have low margins, as in 1.18% net profit across the industry. Price inflation is a result of government money printing, under the leadership of both major parties.
Any time I sit and think seriously about the state of the US banking system it makes me want to dump all my altcoins for #BTC, physical gold, livestock, and hard drugs.
This dragnet style policing is effin scary. And no this wasn't some extremist video they were watching, it was just a random video that they suspected the suspect watched. The implications of this are very serious. To use Youtube privately you can use newpipe or invidious.
The EU has approved bans on commercial anon cash payments of more than €3000 and all business cash payments over €10000. Anon crypto payments to hosted wallets are banned. This is an absolutely disgusting assault on liberty. This reminded me of how the BSA(bank secrecy act) limits in the US have never been adjusted for inflation in 50 years, leading to a gradual increase in tyrannical financial survelliance. 10k in 1970 was a lot of money, today you can't even pull out enough cash to buy a new car without triggering an SAR(suspicious activity report).

Can one of the statists please explain to me how in the hell a 30% tax on BTC mining, on running a computer program, is in any possible way constitutional?
bitcoin has seemed to find some acceptance above the previous all time high instead of just poking it's head above 69k and then selling off immediately. Time for some price discovery. I am oh so bullish.
