Ideas cannot be owned. With or without laws, there’s only so much a sovereign entity can do to “protect” its intelectual “property” from other sovereign entities. Indeed, the space of MAXIMAL sovereignty (where one has freedom to THINK and SAY, as well as to DO, as one pleases) is by definition, the same space where ideas are unconstrained and flow freely. Within the context of a sovereign nation, any arguments used to PROTECT intelectual “property”, are really the same ones used DENY sovereignty for the citizens of that same nation.
