A while back, maybe a year ago, there was a video of an arrest and the suspects list of seed words was caught by the arresting officer's bodycam. Someone suggested the guy's stack might still be safe if he also used a passphrase. Someone else recommended against using a passphrase but I can't recall the reason given.

For multiple reasons which we haven't fully considered, this Coldcard mess is more serious than it appears on the surface. For at least the last five years, common advice used to talk newbies off the ledge during price crashes has been something to the effect of "Stop looking at the price, buy the bitcoin, move it to cold storage, and go on with life." To the extent possible for users of nostr clients and boostagram-enabled podcast apps, that has been my practice. - DCA - move it to Coldcard - go on with life The Coldcard vulnerability demonstrated for me Thursday night through Friday afternoon that this strategy is no longer wise. If this mess weren't so serious I'd find it funny that half of the sats on my Q were in fact migrated there from paper wallets generated before I had enough conviction or disposable income to invest in a hardware wallet. Almost no one in my circle of influence back then understood either the Lightning Network or UTXO dust, but didn't let that stop them from scaring the crap out of newbies over theft or rehypothecation risks of leaving the bitcoin-equivalent of a few days' pay on an exchange. Anyway... here we are on this 213th day of 2026. I have no idea what kind of bitcoin-related products or services will replace the CoinKite ads used by so many podcasters and YouTubers but I think this incident is a good reminder to take reviews and endorsements with a grain of salt. These last couple days reminds me of Mark 8:36: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Replace 'soul' with 'sanity' and it becomes clear that if we're not careful, the technological challenges of Bitcoin itself could unintentionally replace the melting ice cube of fiat in robbing us of our scarce time. Also, to struggling content creators operating exclusively on the V4V model, I suppose the consolation prize is you get to keep your soul.

This Red, White and Blue Razz flavor Monster almost makes me grateful I'll be dead before USA's 300th anniversary 🤮 Hey Monster, there's already a crap-flavored mechanism for delivering caffeine. It's called instant coffee 🤬

Last POTUS resembled a dementia patient and the current one prosecutes a war with Iran like it's a coyote vs sheepdog episode from Looney Toons.

I remember back when Apple announced the iPod Video and the availability of music videos in the iTunes store. I kind of expected a resurgence in the popularity of music videos, especially since the device offered users the choice between watching or listening. That resurgence didn't really happen, at least not to the level of '80s MTV glory days. As a small consolation we now have video podcasts hosted mostly by dudes with faces fit for radio 🤣
