Bring the pain. Yeah, I hope to escape it like everybody else, but if it’s what we need to usher in a high trust civilization with an honest money then let’s get it done. I’m tired of kicking the can down the road and I’m ready to see some old stuff break even if it’s painful for a time.
Lots of people in the last great bitcoin debate were saying that the developers had not reached rough consensus because so many people disagreed with the decision. Many were obviously unaware that “rough consensus” is a standard decision making process of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for open source projects. If I take a Bell 212 helicopter and replace the twin engine system with an equally powerful single engine, I can lift more and move more with the helicopter. However, if that one engine fails I’m headed immediately to the ground, if one generator fails I don’t have backup, etc, so now the consequences of a single failure can be much higher.
Life is like this, almost nothing is a simple binary decision. At some point you must make a decision, choose an option, and go fly.
