Almost no Venezuelan believes that social protest and political negotiations within Venezuela would have caused a change in government, according to a poll commissioned by the WSJ. Incredibly sad to see. image

I think its good that Maduro is gone. I dont think that bombing the people of Venezuela and kidnapping the leader of a sovereign nation is the right thing to do. But if you believe that the warmongering regime change psycho Machado had any chance at leading the country, youโ€˜ve been sold a total fucking lie - especially after the last Western installed presidential disaster that was Juan Guaido, who looted the country for Billions and made no improvements for his own people. Sad to see that there are so many people in this space who think that black bagging people in other countries, trying them under bogus charges, and letting a corporate demon seize power in their place without legitimate elections is somehow aligned with โ€ždemocracyโ€œ. image

Wild how what the Maduro regime does/did to dissidents sounds exactly like what the EU/UK are doing at home (though arguably under better prison conditions) No one should be persecuted for freedom of speech, anywhere View quoted note โ†’

Incredible description of everything that is wrong with our financial system: "At one point the EU pushed to redesign the entire donor and financial architecture for Palestine [...] so that Palestinian finances would remain under constant supervision and control. The message was clear: any political language, any position they did not like, and the money could be shut down instantly." This is not a bug but a deliberate feature of our financial system, which eerily closely resembles that designed by Hjalmar Schacht โ€“ the former finance minister of Nazi Germany. According to Schacht, money did not need real world backing but could be governed by state enforcement. This allowed for total control of the economy: banks, corporations, and individuals who disobeyed the party line could simply have their money devalued without immediate consequences for the rest of society. Political reputation became your credit score while all forms of exchange were controlled by the state, enabling the Nazis to destroy entire livelihoods by cutting dissidents off from the financial system completely. We always talk about the need for financial reform, but never about the fact the financial system we live under today is one that has its origins in the literal antithesis to democracy โ€“ and it is still being used for these purposes today.
