**To all the newcomers and #SiamstrOG friends,**
On August 8th, 2023, I created #Siamstr as a kind of “sign” so we could find each other on this algorithm-free communication protocol. Without a guiding algorithm, the only way to form a group or community is by rallying around something we all choose to share.
There’s a foundational spirit to this community that my friends and I have shaped. While many of us are Bitcoiners, we don’t judge or exclude anyone based on what they believe or who they are. Here, we embrace freedom—freedom in the Austrian economics sense—meaning you’re free to express yourself, but you’re also responsible for the consequences of your actions.
You’ll see what (and who) you follow. You’ll interact with those you engage with, and stay separate from those you’d rather not see (by simply not following, blocking, or muting). That’s it.
At the core of this place is the idea of “Value for Value.”
We exchange value for value, but “value” itself isn’t fixed. I’m not here to define what counts as valuable. It’s the community—the “market” of people—who decides. It’s the viewers and participants who give things meaning, not just the creator claiming their work is important.
Sometimes, when someone’s feeling lonely or discouraged, a simple “Hang in there!” "Fighto!" comment can be worth more than a polished, lengthy motivational post.
Sometimes, a snapshot of flowers on your balcony can brighten someone’s day more than a carefully selected inspirational quote.
Sometimes, just a short “GM” (Good Morning) note can spark unexpected friendships.
Real connections don’t come from just hitting “follow.” They come from talking, commenting, and genuinely caring about one another.
In the end, everyone here just wants to know one another, make friends, understand each other’s stories and ideas, help out however they can, collaborate, share happiness, and have fun together.
We don’t care who you are or where you come from. We only care if we can be friends, talk about things we both enjoy, and appreciate each other’s differences. We don’t judge each other; we respect one another.
You see, #Nostr isn’t like mainstream apps. We’re pioneers carving out a space to build a real community. We don’t value what people do solely for themselves—but we’ll gladly zap anyone who’s helping strengthen our community.
Bitcoin has real value. We don’t just zap randomly, but when it’s for friends or fellow community members, it comes naturally.
In October 2023, four of us—including myself—met face-to-face for the first time at an event called #korat101. That encounter inspired what we now call “protocol101” meetups.
Since then, “101” gatherings have popped up across the country. We grew from just four people to fifty, and eventually found ourselves among thousands of like-minded folks sharing hugs at the #btc24 conference.
We’ve been through good and bad times together, which is why we care about each other so deeply.
Don’t be shy about saying hello. Take a moment to read someone’s notes, leave a positive comment, and gradually build up your circle of friends. Having good friends who share your interests is even more valuable than stacking sats.
As you grow older, you’ll understand why I say this. True happiness springs from within, not from material things.
Anyway, my name is Tum (everyone calls me Jakk Goodday). I’m one of the co-founders of
@npub1ejn7...97a5 and I traveled 1,000 kilometers to meet Mr.
@npub1cvmn...rdn9 because I knew that journey would lead me to more stories and more new friends here.
Welcome to a truly free and wonderful community.
And in time, we’ll come to genuinely love one another.
