Busy week getting the well project set up. Still need the inner form which comes in Monday and crane then can start digging it all out. They've got reinforcements for concrete rings made up with many more to go. You can see they'll be steps all the way down. #permaculture #homesteading #Offgrid #gardening

Morning work, built a quick ramp so we can dump water fast at well location. Pouring cement pad with reinforcements for winch and boom stands. They've begun bending and wiring up reinforcements for the cement rings will be pouring daily. We should begin digging early next week. #homesteading #gardening #permaculture #offgrid

Down to final exterior painting and the basic work is done for apartment. Windows and door in although I'll switch that door for one with a screen and use this one as a garage door. Nice studio bedroom, kitchen area and storage under stairs. Have to work on my color mix, been over 3 years since I mixed the burnt orange lime wash color. #homesteading #gardening #permaculture

There is nothing like an hour long walk barefoot in the desert after a rain. The smell and softness of the earth are incredible. Even the plants and stickers that normally scratch or stick you were amazingly soft. Sun is up, and the bugs will be out, but it's worth it if we get some greening up of the desert. 🤙 Sorry no pics, no phone on walk🤙

Spent the last 2 days filling in the old well. This may sound crazy but were filling it in so we can dig it out again. What? Its too dangerous to work the old well without shoring up the sides which very difficult to do. We decided its much safer to start over and build the concrete linning as we go. Then I realized we need to fill in the old one and it would be easier to shovel out that than starting over on a new one. Plus this specific hole is grandfathered in as an ag well. So be it, fill it in and dig it out... Love the colors of earth, red, white, grey and yellow. Great for rammed earth😉 #permaculture #homesteading #Offgrid #gardening image

So I had my largest Moringa tree chewed off a few inches above ground. I wasn't happy and just left the trunk there and just stuffed the trunk back into the ground. The stump is becoming a moringa bush and the trunk is aliiive. Now have new growth on the old trunk. Have to relocate, had no idea it would get roots, just left it there, quite the survivor. #permaculture #homesteading #gardening

Pretty cool beach structure that I saw the other day. The material is Palo del Arco commonly grown and used for shades, fences, pergolas, wind blocks and actual structure for mud and wattle style homes. You can see the architect's home in the background, obviously he likes angles😉

Went to an earth block home yesterday. Not only are all the bricks block but that is an earth block tile roof! My current contractor owns the hime as well as the block machine. Plan to build with a mix of rammed earth and compressed earth block homes, using all ranch materials except for the lime added. Still need to use concrete for structure (white beams and columns) and cap on walls but much, much less. The wood beams will be a bit expensive but the rest is mostly labor. #homesteading #permaculture #rammedearth
