Arnold Kling talking about AI reminds me of NOSTR as well-
‘When someone in 1994 commented on my first web site “Congratulations: you’ve set up your lemonade stand on the moon. Now you just have to wait for the astronauts to get there,” it was almost certain that the astronauts would get there, and at what rate they would be followed by the civilian population.’
My last substack post hit ~5k views with help from NOSTR. Many thanks. New post up today exposing the grift that higher education has become. Would love your feedback.
It’s not you vs. them. It’s you vs you.
“The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either -- but right through every human heart -- and through all human hearts.”
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago
So on brand…
“A new four-lane highway cutting through tens of thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest is being built for the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belém.”
I remember once during a bible study with my brothers at the height of covid, someone mentioned “uncertain times”.
An astute brother said “times have always been uncertain”.
We fooled ourselves that certainty had arrived in our little corner of the universe. I often reflect on this when facing a hard task or period of time - volatility is truly vitality.
If we ever thought differently, we were lying to ourselves. Let’s get out there this week and make some order from the chaos.
