What are some different stylistic and technical turns the art could have taken historically that would have led to a different style and "lexicon" of film than we have today? I haven't studied film formally, but my sense of how it developed as an art form is that unlike visual art and storytelling conventions, which developed slowly in countless different ways around the world, film was pretty global and developed conventions quickly. It also seems there has been a lot of experimentation, but that this stayed in the avant-garde fringes a lot of the time (my guess is because it wasn't very psychologically accessible). Yay, it’s spring! If you’re the kind of person who’s already looking forward to fall, I have a cup for you 🤣 There are impressions of real wild passionfruit (Passiflora incarnata) leaves on two sides, which have been “pinched” in to make holding the cup extra comfy and visually interesting. I picked the leaves from the patch that grows outside my studio. I’ve checked every fall for years, but never been able to get a ripe fruit… the animals must always beat me to them! The leaves and inside were glazed with orange, yellow, and green translucent glazes while most of the outside of the cup was left as bare clay. The cup is food- and dishwasher-safe! Some good points have been made to me about my last post that I think I should address. #asknostr at end of this post. When I posted this, I was considering all kinds of “intervene” to be covered at the far left of the graphic. This includes both merely verbal and potentially physically violent situations. Really, these should have been two separate categories. Men who physically intervene to prevent rape ARE HEROIC. That isn’t basic decency. They are risking their lives. And even if it isn’t a violent fight, but putting your hand over a cup so the other guy at the party can’t put a pill in it and he knows you are watching, I still call that heroism. If I had made this graphic, I would not have crossed out “heroic” even for only verbal intervention, by which I mean calling out someone else’s “joke” or victim-blaming. I tend to disagree, at least in this case, with those who think there is no moral obligation to speak up in these particular situations, but I still think it’s beyond “decent;” I think it is GOOD to speak up. The graphic only mentions men as accountable, but of course women are accountable too, and men are also victims of rape culture, for example, the acceptance / embracing of prison rape. I think we should speak out against all of it. - What do you think — are social dissociation and ostracism more effective tools than speaking out against things people say? You can help end rape culture by confronting it whenever you encounter it, even if it’s “just a joke,” even if it’s “not that bad,” even when women aren’t around.

Sophia and I tried the fancy Korean strawberries! Or as Paul calls them, “Wagyu strawberries” They are HIGHLY fragrant, and not just of strawberry, but also of melon. Their skin is extra smooth, almost like it’s polished, and their texture is not like a normal strawberry, but very smooth, similar to a melon or mango but less dense. It reminded me a lot of the good quality Korean fruit-flavored candy my roommate used to share with me, and makes me want to try a fancy Korean apple sometime (the apple flavor was my favorite) Somewhat disappointingly, they’re white inside, not red. The other box even had berries with white on the outside of them. Another disappointment: there was a faint, faint hint of mildew-like “long storage” taste, and no wonder, considering they were shipped from Korea. I won’t buy again, but I’m glad I tried them, as the powerful fragrance and unique texture were interesting. Has anyone here ordered from Azure Standard for a delivery drop before? They’re supposed to send you an exact pickup time but I still haven’t received mine, and the drop is supposedly tomorrow.
