The Cicada Ocarina is complete… I began work on this on my birthday 2023, and after taking a week or so to finish it as greenware, took a whole year deciding how to glaze it. The day before my birthday 2024, I finally executed. To me, cicadas are a symbol of transformation and entering a new phase of life, and this project covered a time of great change for me, covering pregnancy, birth, and the beginning of motherhood. I’m incredibly pleased with the result. Sounds hauntingly lovely despite only playing three notes. I’ll find a way to let y’all hear it soon.
