Police and CPS stole Josiah from Joslyn, without a court order or any evidence of threat to his wellbeing, because she sought a second opinion about his medical treatment. We're going to reunite them. Keep reading to find out how you can help. Last March, Josiah had what appeared to be a mild seizure, so Joslyn took him to the ER, who found that Josiah had a mild calcium deficiency. They went home, and in a subsequent follow-up with Josiah's primary care physician and Dallas Children's Hospital, his calcium showed improvement. In October, Joslyn took Josiah to his primary care physician because he had developed a rash from a new laundry detergent. His doctor prescribed a topical steroid cream along with an antibiotic. During this visit, they also discussed referrals for nutritional therapy. In early December, Joslyn registered Josiah with Green Apple Therapy for Feeding Difficulties. He received an in-home food therapy evaluation on December 15. By December 20, Josiah's rash had improved, but he was exhibiting some swelling. As a precaution, Joslyn brought Josiah back for another appointment with his primary care physician. It was determined that Josiah needed some blood work done, so he was sent to Dallas Children's Hospital. Once they arrived, Josiah was examined and had blood work done. The doctor in charge of Josiah's care prescribed him Clindamycin. It's an antibiotic with a black box warning, the strongest warning that a medication can have. His lab results indicated that Josiah's infection was minimal and that he was not at risk of sepsis. Based on that, Joslyn was not comfortable giving Josiah Clindamycin, which is typically reserved for severe infections. She decided to get a second opinion. On December 21, after consulting with his primary doctor along with a pharmacist, Josiah was started on Bactrim, a milder antibiotic. Later that day, Corinth Police officers, accompanied by Child Protection Services, arrived to do a wellness check on Josiah. Police found no threat of danger, but CPS decided to take Josiah from his home anyway. They did this without a court order. Josiah was immediately hospitalized and placed on Clindamycin and a list of other medications without approval of his PCP, and Joslyn was blocked from having access to any of Josiah’s medical records. A few days later, Joslyn had received a call from CPS stating that Josiah may be undergoing heart surgery, and that he had to have a PICC line placed for IV fluids and a nasogastric tube to keep him nourished because he was unwell and hungry. This was the first time they allowed Joslyn to see him since he had been removed from her care. The Sanders' next family visit, which was scheduled for the day after Christmas, was canceled by CPS. Under the custody of CPS, Josiah’s health deteriorated and, by December 30th, when Joslyn was allowed to visit him again, the doctor reported that Josiah was no longer being treated for an infection. Josiah, with a nasogastric tube in place, was suffering from a swollen stomach, running a fever, coughing, and vomiting - all known side effects of Clindamycin. On February 19, Joslyn was able to attend a Medical Family Meeting with Dallas Children’s Hospital via Zoom where Josiah’s treating physician, nutritional therapist, and CPS workers were unable to answer questions about his condition. They revealed that neither Josiah’s PCP nor his original nutritional therapist were contacted or consulted over the two months that he has been under CPS custody. Josiah was supposed to come home the following day. Joslyn has still received no communication from her CPS caseworker, and her inquiry as to his status and placement went unanswered. CPS made it clear that only Joslyn would be allowed to see Josiah for one hour per week, under the supervision of multiple armed security officers. Joslyn’s father, Jason, who is also her ADA companion and part of Josiah’s household, would not be allowed to see Josiah under any circumstances. Although Joslyn provided a list of seven family and friends with whom to place Josiah, CPS initially claimed that no one on this list would take Josiah. Later, they confirmed that they had called each person on the list, but had not bothered to leave a message with anyone in order to receive a return call. Although the Sanders’ initial hearing should have taken place within 14 days of Josiah’s removal in December, their hearing has been repeatedly rescheduled for various "reasons". One of the excuses was that the court was unable to serve Joslyn because they did not have her address. The same address where CPS removed Josiah from her custody in December. In their most recent court date yesterday, Josiah's pediatrician, Dr. Naidoo, confirmed that Joslyn was always diligent in her care of Josiah, and that he was never neglected by her. Dr. Naidoo also said that Josiah's condition would have improved if Josiah hadn't been taken from Joslyn. It was also revealed that the state's pediatrician, Dr. Dakil, was never informed by CPS that Joslyn had sought treatment for Josiah. Dr. Dakil was very surprised to find this out while being cross-examined yesterday. Josiah is still, right now, being held by the state. We're going to reunite them. Here's how you can help: 1.
