The most magical place in the world is home, at peace. At peace with yourself. At peace with your family. At peace with the life you’re leading. It’s a tall order, sure, but there’s no better place, nothing more magical. And there’s nothing more worthy of striving for. When at peace, home is bright, beautiful, and joyful. Well-worn furniture brings warmth to your heart, not dissatisfaction to your mind. Loud, boisterous kids make you smile, not bristle. Small spaces feel cozy, not cramped. Messes are made by the people you love the most—including you. Even if it’s only moment-to-moment, which is the best that most of us can do, being home, at peace, is the best place there is.

I just wrapped up recording @Trust Revolution with @RobBrinded. There's the software we run, and there's the software that runs us. Rob shared profound insights into the latter. Coming next Wednesday.

10 predictions about the world in 10 years 1. After successive downgrades of its creditworthiness due to spiraling debt, the United States dollar is no longer the world’s reserve currency. 2. The experiment that is the European Union has failed. Member nations begin the arduous path back to independence and thriving. 3. In a newly multipolar world, there are those national governments that pursue prosperity through free markets and the betterment of their citizens. There are also those who pursue control by continuing to clamp down on the individual through CBDCs and digital IDs. Mostly, the latter. 4. Health is the new wealth. Healthspan is the new flex. Access to diagnostics, therapeutics, and treatments, which dramatically increase not only longevity but also the span of a healthy life, are 10x more potent and 10x pricier. 5. A return to cheap, abundant energy through the proliferation of small modular reactors (SMRs) sparks a renewed push to deliver dramatically greater quality of life in developing nations and further enrichment in the developed. 6. AI delivers capabilities indistinguishable from artificial general intelligence (AGI), though still largely a hat trick. Practically speaking, a massive dislocation of “white collar” work has occurred, offset at the national level by equal increases in productivity and GDP but hugely disruptive at the individual level. Some begin to reskill. More drop out of the employment market altogether. 7. In the West, urban centers, still primary areas of economic activity, arts, and entertainment, slip further into instability and chaos. Suburban life and rural homesteading become the objectives for those with the means. 8. The decline and eventual collapse of legacy media is complete. Social media is media. Consensus on matters of community and societal importance is even harder to reach because individual opinions are trivially easy to shape. 9. Borders are more difficult to cross, resulting in much less international travel. Local tourism thrives, and smaller communities benefit. 10. The individual’s spirit and determination remain the defining characteristics of a prosperous life. As always, we have adapted to new challenges and new opportunities. Life is different, but life is good.
