If I were a state actor wanting to distract the most technically competent Bitcoiners for years, I’d find a couple of key influencers to push virtue-signaling nonsense to spark a fake emergency, then convince a loud minority of well-meaning plebs they need to act RIGHT NOW to “save bitcoin.” I’d layer in plenty of useful NPCs and bots to create even more noise. I’d force everyone to waste their time and attention re-explaining basic technical reality over and over and over again…
I’d make sure anyone who noticed the emperor had no clothes would be attacked, demonized, and slandered mercilessly. I’d force them to respond to character attacks instead of technical arguments. After all, the goal isn’t to be right or to win the argument, the goal is to waste time through any means necessary.
When it became clear that no one with an IQ above room temperature was falling for my game, I’d just threaten a hard fork and get my lemmings to rally behind it, creating even more noise and distraction.
Meanwhile, while everyone is distracted fighting pointless battles, attackers using frontier AI quietly become the real security threat to Bitcoin projects.
