Two of my close friends both lost a parent yesterday
One her mom, from cancer, just years after her father passed the same.
The other, lost her father, while in her third trimester of pregnancy.
If you are blessed to have your parents still in your life, give them a call, or a hug. You never know what will come tomorrow.
TFW you see your 70 year old dad come home from working his labor intensive job in the heat all day, unable to retire due to the rising cost of living.
And the fact you barely can work for him anymore, because he let you follow your dreams and go to college.
Cannot believe i accidentally adopted a purebred border collie at the shelter 😭 when i asked them what he was at the shelter they said “black & white lab or something”, test results in, and he’s 100% border collie.
they got my ass good
As my third week of college comes to a close, I am so grateful for this experience.
This has been my dream for so long, it feels unreal to be able to get a degree, specifically for my mother who never got to finish highschool because of war, and having to take care of her mother who had a stroke. Her dream was always to go to college, specifically an american college. “Like the movies” she always says.
It’s not lost on me the absolute privilege I have to be able to attend college, even if it’s just community college. I saved up for years just so I didn’t need government assistance, and it was so worth it.
