Had lunch today with an old teacher of mine, who was more of a parent figure to me than a teacher. Helped me get through addiction, being kicked out, failing his science class.He always told me I was an old soul, as we would be able to converse for hours, without age ever being an issue. He’s in his late 70s, and retired when I graduated. I have always struggled making friends my own age, always the odd one out, not being able to ever be very close with my peers. I don’t drink, or like to party very much. It always distanced me. Today, I realized that my best friend just might be my 80 year old science teacher. And, I’m very okay with that.
