...and the pre-polish stage of tumble #1 has begun. The yellow jasper & blue quartz are looking good so far. My favorite piece hidden in this mess is a piece of clear quartz with a band of bright green epidote inclusions. It's going to make a beautiful piece of jewery... if I can ever develop some skill for that task. image I need to go on a few lake walks and find some nice stones for the next round. I also have some of the smokey high quartz soaking in a baking soda solution right now. I'm excited about those. I think they're going to be really pretty.

Hallway is one of the coolest Nostr things I've experimented with and a game changer for onboarding people and groups outside of the bitcoin space. You can check out my instance here: I've chosen a mix of fun & utility moreso than staying scoped to a topic or tight-knit group. Any Spatia-Arcana members who want to use it have fast access to the members-only space, their bookmarks, and their personal notes right away in the side bar. When you sign in, all of your follows, relay settings, and favorite relays become available, as expected. Mobile browser will give you less fixed feeds than a full screen, but it's fast & the feeds feels complete. The subtle details are all over the place. Check out profiles, little side buttons, menus, etc... Expect a few bugs, but I think we're safe from any of the catastrophic list wipes and whatnot. I haven't had any of that. There will be some little changes as this progresses, so if you have ideas, I'd love to hear them. If you want to practice Latin, reply here with a statement solely in Latin so I can republish it and get you access. 😊 View quoted note →

Dammit, I don't know how to troubleshoot cashu. I'd been receiving to npub.cash and moving out to minibits. Some time ago, the minibits scanner started taking 5-15 minutes minutes to scan QRs, so I started using cashu.me as an intermediary. It was a stupid flow, but it worked until last night. I had about 5k sats accumulated at npub.cash, so it had to be broken into 2 claims. The first, I scanned with cashu.me and got this error: image I figured something was offline & saved the proofs as pending. I did the many, many minutes scan with with minibits for the second and got the same error, so I copied the token string into cashu.me to save as pending since I can't find an option like that in minibits. This morning, by weird coincidence and for the very first time ever, my cashu.me pwa was reset as if I'd never had a wallet, so I tried to recover from seed but of course the pending history is gone 😂🤣 what do? There's obviously a cashu.me problem and a minibits problem, but is there also an npub.cash problem? Or is that a mint problem?

Men tend to place a lot of their self esteem on the ability to acquire and provide financial security. There is no doubt this current mess is going to shake some foundations, unwillingly change many future plans. If you find yourself reading this... Remember, you are more than your money. All circumstances are temporary, and no matter where you land in the aftermath, life is always as beautiful as what you make it to be.

Every metaphor for a garden overlays onto life (and vice versa) because a garden is life. One of those lessons is that you are not a god... that no matter how well things are going, things can and will go wrong, and sometimes there is nothing you can do to stop them from happening... because you are not in charge. Nature is. This: image is mosaic virus. Nearly every plant species is susceptable to some variation of it. There is no treatment or prevention. It is carried in seeds and spread by bugs, tools, hands, direct leaf contact, even the wind. As a steward of nature, the only interventions are removing the sick plants from the garden, keeping bugs at bay, and practicing sanitary tending methods. I experienced my first mass garden loss from mosaic 3 years ago, when I planted tobacco seeds acquired a random ebay seller. I watched as half my garden slowly, but quickly, died. Every morning, I could see how it was spreading from plant to plant. Everyday my garden became a little less vibrant. I didn't know what was wrong then, but I do now. It seems that this year, I must have acquired some carrier green bean seeds from a different, unfamiliar seller. My beans are dying. There is a high probability that most of my garden will die very soon. I will remove the sick plants as they appear and I will tend my garden cleanly, but pollinators are going to pollinate and the wind is going to blow... and there is nothing else I can do but hope that some things make it through.

I used to think the whole "adulting is hard" trend was a byproduct of a broken monetary, societal, and regulatory system that forced a generation of kids to grow up too fast, just to be left to function in a world where all the benefits of getting older... things like purpose, achievement, family, risk/reward... were widely unattainable or, at best, stripped of their meaning, leaving these people clinging to the nostalgia of simpler times. Maybe it started out that way, but more and more, I am starting to think that this particular mental weakness has been exploited and twisted into some sort of codependency-inducing psyop... adult coloring books, birthday cake flavored vodka, Pokémon beer mugs, adult happy meals with a toy included... nearly every temporary escape from responsibility that adults have, has been wrapped up in some sort of remeniscent-of-childhood theme. There is no lifestyle, conventional or alternative, that hasn't been tainted by the kidification of adulthood in some way.
