When I'm out in public and I think there is even a remote possibility that I might be in someone's way, I whisper "excuse me, sorry". Pathetic, strange, whatever. I don't care. It's what I do. Sometimes people will smile, most just ignore me. That's fine. Whatever. It's what they do. But I just whispered my neurotic little matra at some guy and he whispered back, "It's okay. You're not in my way," and now I have to spend the rest of my life wondering who was that mysteriously polite whispering man. 😅
