Following on The Nostr does not need to be public. Right now, you can create private lists, which means nobody can see your special private feed. BUT... It could be that your published "following list" contains encrypted data where only those you follow can see that you follow them by encrypting a "follow status" only they can decrypt. I'm not suggesting this change, only making an observation.
