I’m an anesthesiologist, but tonight I performed surgery on my one of my favorite little sculptures. Story in pictures:
The patient presented with multiple fractures and injuries after a pawpatrol projectile.
Staff doctors spend 12+ years of their lives training to care for people.
Then they work in sterile environments being told that their efficiency isn’t where it needs to be and visits have to be faster.
Their patients get annoyed when the doc is running late or the visit was too quick and they get rated for their poor experience.
Then we mortgage our home life to get the paperwork done for companies that don’t give a damn about anything except money.
I wonder why there is so much burnout… 🙄
There has to be a better way. We are making it.

I took a little break because real life got busy.
Just over the last few weeks I realized I was spending most of my year trying to recreate NOSTR in the real world.
I think we are getting closer @⚡️ᗪㄖ匚⚡️

Practicing medicine and caring for patients is my calling.
Practicing defensive medicine and writing notes on UI designed in the 80s is not.
Medicine is consistently 10-20 years behind on technology that supports clinicians.
We need to continue to invest in our patients and get them the best life-saving technologies, but maybe it’s time that we support and invest in caregivers and make our jobs easier with some superior technology.

I’m finishing my basement…
Making tile decisions at the same time as finding the right strobe/laser light so that I can teach my kids how to rave. Any suggestions?

I’m spending a week at a summer camp as the camp doctor. I’m only 3 days in, but I feel my burnout melting away. The experience is renewing my commitment to serving my community and being an active part of it. #docchain
I don’t like being tracked as much as the next guy… but thanks to my AirTag, I told the airline where to find my “lost” luggage and saw when it got delivered to our destination 72 hours later.
1000 sats to whoever identifies the final location 🤙
