I remember NVK laughing off the DarkSkippy exploit and saying something like it would have been impossible on a Coldcard, something that was never confirmed by the researchers behind the attack simulation.
It's unfortunate that such a critical vulnerability existed and could be exploited without physical access to the device.
At least with DarkSkippy, an attacker needed malicious firmware on the device and you had to make at least one outgoing transaction before your seed could be exfiltrated. With this vulnerability, the official firmware itself was the problem, and you didn't even need to make a spending transaction to fall victim to the exploit.
That's just tragic!

I used to think generating a seed with dice was unnecessarily paranoid or that it relied too much on the fairness of the dice.
After the Coldcard hack, I'm going to take a much closer look at it.
I woke up around 5:00 a.m., rolled over, checked my phone, and saw the post about the Coldcard hack. That was enough to keep me awake for the next two hours.
My heart goes out to everyone who lost funds because of this vulnerability.
I hope the hacker gets found.
My new hypothesis is that Satoshi killed himself, when he realized he had lost his keys.
Otherwise, we would have heard from him bitching about it.
I was reluctant to do this, but I eventually had to hire some assassins to deal with the ramshorn snails that have completely taken over my tank!
In the second picture, you can see just how many tiny ramshorn snails gathered around a small piece of algae wafer I dropped into the tank. There are so many that my shrimp can't even get a bite!

The Islamic Republic is continuing its war on the people of Iran. But Iranians are fighting back.
Yesterday in Esfahan, citizens noticed the regime was preparing for a barbaric public execution. Reports circulated that the regime was set to hang three protesters from the January 8/9 uprising.
At dawn, hundreds of brave Iranians gathered in the square to protest this medieval brutality and public murder. They jeered and shouted at the executioners. Sadly as the call to prayer played, two young men were hung from cranes.
Security forces chased the protesters, firing on them with live ammunition, trying to kill more and more Iranians.
The murder of protesters and other political prisoners are often done in prisons. But the regime, fearing the Iranian people will rise against them, is conducting them in public in an attempt to intimidate them into silence.
Untold other brave protesters are currently facing a similar fate. Their lives hang in the balance.
This is two Irans: the vile and evil Islamic Republic against the brave and heroic people of Iran.
Iranians will not back down. They will fight. But they should not have to fight alone. The world must back these brave men and women.

Last night, after several years of owning an iPhone, I realized that clicking the WiFi symbol in Control Center does not actually turn off WiFi. It only disconnects from the current network and reconnects under certain circumstances.
For me, one of those “certain circumstances” was waking up and unlocking my phone!
With my Android phone, I could keep a routine: wake up, set a timer for one hour, and only then connect to the internet. But I had lost that control for maybe four years. The moment I unlocked my iPhone, I was bombarded by notifications.
It did not matter if I was in Sleep Mode. I could still see new notifications bundled together, which made me curious and ruined my offline-start routine.
Last night, eventually, with the help of ChatGPT, I realized that I had not actually been turning off WiFi all these years. I needed my phone for my alarm, so this happened on any day I set an alarm with Sleep Cycle.
I set up a shortcut to turn off WiFi properly, and today was my first true offline morning: I woke up, unlocked my phone, and was not bombarded by notifications.

Claude vs Codex.
Which one is your choice?
Personally, I’ve had an easier time communicating with Codex than Claude. Maybe it’s because I’ve used ChatGPT for a long time and we understand each other’s language better.
But most developers prefer Claude.
What’s your choice?
Had a damn long day today and I have a headache that only steak can heal!

My baby ramshorn snails are growing fast!

Swapped the old castle and Anubias petite for pearl weed to see how quickly it carpets the bottom. I’ve also read that pearl weed is a much better ammonia purification machine.
The duckweed survived the reset. Although it’s not as healthy as it was before, I can still see its roots. Let’s see how it goes. 🌱🐌
(You can see both the old version and the new version. I love the black substrate and its contrast with the green and pink of the plants and snails in the new setup.😍)

Relax; it’s not a dead shrimp!
It’s just a shrimp’s shed exoskeleton after molting. It even looks like the shrimp itself, right down to the antennae.

I'd better transfer these two horny guys to the original tank they were from; otherwise, snails would take over my fish & shrimp tank!
