This leads to an inevitable bias in the content they produce towards the people who buy the stuff. 5. The question is: who buys the most stuff, and would therefore have a bias in their favor? 6. Stop asking business you patronize to take #Bitcoin, start choosing to patronize the ones that do and telling businesses why you chose their competitor instead. There's a bright spot in all the news this week. I've been watching the comments section of MAGA politicians and influencers. Their customers ain't buying the bullshit they're peddling. The party line isn't working. They saw the video, they know what they saw: a senseless murder of someone trying to film the police and exercise his constitutional rights. My MAGA peers IRL are on the same page. National gun ownership groups are clapping back in their statements too. Turns out, if your justification for killing someone is merely that they had a gun, the gun lobby might take some kind of offense to that. On the other side of the coin, I see my liberal friends coming around on the second amendment. Turns out when you have a tyrannical government insisting they can enter your house without a warrant, pulling people over and brutalizing them for no reason, and telling you that any resistance will result in more beatings or worse and that they should have "total immunity".. The purpose and need for the second amendment becomes crystal clear. The founding fathers may have been some hot shot lawyers, but they had an impeccable understanding of human behavior, incentive structures, and the mechanics of power. Haven't seen America this united since the first two weeks of COVID. Freedom dies in darkness and partisanship, and yet when I look around, I see people putting aside their differences to stand up for it. Bitcoin is saving lives today by fighting a winter storm. Let me explain Apparently the snowpocalypse has knocked about 30% of the global Bitcoin hashrate (miners) offline. Pretty crazy to watch it in real time, and good to know the US is a leader in this space. One of the benefits of having Bitcoin miners on your grid is that they soak up un-used electricity, which means 100% efficiency on the generation end. Miners don't "compete" with normal electricity users, as they can only afford to buy the cheapest electricity (which is produced as excess during times of low demand). Miners help increase the size of grid capacity by ensuring no generated electricity is a loss for the power company, allowing for greater amounts of generation. Yet mining can also be turned off instantly in emergencies, ensuring that even in peak demand like a snow storm, there is enough capacity for everyone. And because miners were there before, the total capacity is larger than if they never existed in the first place. Because of Bitcoin, people can keep their heat on in a deadly storm. Systems like energy generation, sewage, and traffic are generally designed to meet the expected peak demand over a certain time period (100 year flood etc). You don't size for infinite capacity because capacity costs money to keep online. While that 100 year metric works 99% of the time, it also means that once you hit that 100 year event, the system will be overburdened and fail. But Bitcoin mining fundamentally changes this calculus and allows you to scale beyond the normal limits. Cool to see how resilient this network is. 30% of hashrate can drop offline and coins will keep being issued and transferred just as scheduled. Fuck ICE. At this point it isn't even a partisan issue, even amongst the MAGA people I know, people are PISSED. ICE is out of control and the evidence is a mountain high.
