People often don’t realise when their freedoms are being slowly stripped away—it’s the perfect boiling frog analogy. Elon Musk’s unchecked power and influence clearly show the danger of centralised control. Protocols like Nostr offer a way to challenge. Decentralisation is essential to holding the powerful accountable. I don’t agree with everything The Guardian says, particularly their reliance on government intervention, but it’s a start. Thank you to everyone working in Bitcoin and Nostr so we don’t let the gradual erosion of freedom go unnoticed—before it’s too late.

Morning Psychos. 🫡 Eighteen months ago, I responded to a New York Post article titled: ‘Bitcoin Fans Are Psychopaths Who Don’t Care About Anyone, Study Shows’. The piece was categorised under the ‘mental health’ section. However, my editor wouldn’t allow me to use the word “psychopath” in my rebuttal, so I had to rewrite it. I ended up posting the original, uncut version on SubStack, but it didn’t gain much traction, after SubStack was shadowbanned by Twitter. Given Bloomberg’s recent headline: ‘Crypto Owners More Likely to Have Psychopathic Traits, Study Says’, I thought it might be time to revisit the topic. Study shows, study says… perhaps the ‘studies’ are confusing bitcoin with crypto. It’s both funny and frustrating. So, here’s why I know bitcoiners aren’t psychopaths—the uncut version.

Supermarket food is packed with harmful pesticides and chemicals. Growing your own is a lost skill. I love @Ro₿ ‘s allotment efforts—fried homegrown tomatoes for brekkie are the best! 🍅 image

Nostriga is awesome! The knowledge and signal here is off the charts. In this panel we discussed the current state of journalism, the challenges we face, and how decentralised platforms like Nostr could be the game-changer we need. Journalism is at a crossroads. The question isn't just "who writes the news?" but "who funds it?" The reality is, if you control information, you control everything. This leads to the barriers we see in truly unbiased reporting. Large corporations often have stakes in major media outlets, leading to content that serves their interests. The US is a prime example with Fox & CNN openly showcasing their biases. Corporate influence in journalism is real, and it's pervasive. COVID was a stark example of government-media collusion. We saw narratives pushed that aligned perfectly with political agendas, shaping public opinion in unprecedented ways. My recent experience with the BBC has been telling. I've been fighting for a retraction on a misleading Bitcoin article since Nov 2023. Despite using every channel—FOI, ICO, the press office—I've hit a wall. Their public funding model makes them untouchable. The question is, how can we maintain editorial independence? Look at the BBC's Bitcoin coverage since 2013—all negative. Many of these journalists have never worked outside journalism, unlike those with real-world experience in fields like finance or tech. Enter Nostr and Lightning Network. This is how we revolutionise journalism. By enabling micropayments and decentralised content distribution, we can create a model where journalists are paid fairly for in-depth reporting. The mainstream media's ethical compromises are destroying trust. Social media further blurs the line between fact and fiction. We need a new business model, and Nos tr with Lightning might just be the answer. #MediaEthics The future of journalism lies in independent, decentralised platforms. Nostr + Lightning offers a solution where people pay for the journalism they want—genuine, thorough, and free from corporate or government influence. Zaps are awesome, could they change journalism? #LightningNetwork #Journalism Thank you for organising @Nostriga @MichZ . 💕

Is it fair to say that our social and economic woes are caused by governments? If so, why do we keep pointing fingers at each other? It’s time to unite and hold them accountable. We need to stop looking left and right and start looking up. image
