Reasons to quit #microsoft #office (from C’t magazine 2026 1st magazine from 27.12.2025) 1) Uncertainty: Mcrosoft has the option to cancel your account at any time, as it was probably done to Karim Khan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karim_Ahmad_Khan) Also when there is bigger outages from microsoft services, one users will suffer. 2) Private data protection Not only anonymized data is processed by Microsoft. Also file contents are sent to microsofts servers by using their cloud, AI transcription feature or even grammatic corrections of the text. 3) More and more defaults pointing to clouds. When one prefers local storage, it is combined with constant additional effort to do so compared to cloud storage, wile features like file history or autosave are only available in the cloud for no good reason. 4) Price tyranny Users and organizations depending on the microsoft office are exposed to the price changes made by Microsoft. In 2022 prices rose by 25% for company subscriptions, in 2023 by another 10% and for 2026 there are already plans to increase prices by another 10-25%. 5) Use of #copilot by all microsoft tools by default.

Am I the only person who finds it strange, that the political right often requests, to focus more on problems within the borders and thev suddenly, they actually put all focus on issues within other countries. How are US citizen affected by UK censorship? Or by internet investigation within germany? Did those people in the US which do report nonstop on these forein activities actually feel, as if this is what has the biggest influence on their freedom? Or are they just too afrait to see what happens within their borders? When the discussion is not even about what laws to initiate or quit. When the discussion is about if the law should be respected by their representatives or not. When there is a seemingly meaningful mass of people, that do think that the right for a court sentencing is something a free society can dismiss. A country, where law representatives operate with facemasks and without any form of identification. I am not saying where I live is everything ok. But there is defnitly no point defending illegit activity of whatever instituition in my country. As more users there are, as more new ways will be found to use it. Usecases can naturally only increase. Lets see this as a motivation to ramp on more friends and family to opensource software. Really like these two explanaitions of #causation : 1. The causation that is not Time dependent: [base] gravity -> Causes mass to tend towards the strongest gravity center -> base of house to stand on ground -> chair within the house -> body on the chair -> shoulder within the body -> arm on the shoulder -> hand on arm -> glass on hand -> water in glass Remove one element of this causal chain at any time and the water will loose its current place in space. 2. Causation that is time dependent: Domino pieces that fall. When the 2nd piece is falling one can remove the first piece and it will have no effect on the 3rd and 4th piece. Probably most social relations are combinations of the two. Every animal and human being depends on certain causation in order to go on with life. We need air, water, nutrition and an adequate temperature in order to life. But on limited time, we can stop breathing, not drink, not eat or survive high and low temperatures. Also Power follows these two causation chains. And every power, no matter if it is the power of human rights, national law, power of police or any tyran depend on those who beliefe them powerful. An entity can be as deadly as they want. When enough people see, that they often or not trustworthy, they will lose credibility and loose power. Even when they can kill every living being on earth. Because being able to kill is not power. It is only a way to deminish power. Power is, when someone can request something and others approve it. Every #stoic knows, that human are always free to their own will. No one can force a human being to act on my behalf. The only thing people can do is to tell narratives and stories, that tell others that their best option is to do what I say. Once I understand this, that the cause of my action is always my free will, will start to understand freedom.

I think freedom of speech does not only mean, that no one deletes or censors my post. Freedom of speech is already violated, when I am not able to moderate my own feed. So when I follow a user and notes from this user are not displayed. And when I do not follow a person or institution and their notes are displayed, even when I did not subscribe to anyone, that reposted it. Clearly that applies to advertisement, which is unrelated to my subscriptions but also proposed notes from every entity I do not directly follow. #freedom #freedomofspeech
