Can Even Top Athletes Get Prediabetes? @kendberry.md yes! Its called the fit but unhealthy athlete. We showed in a 2023 RCT that even fit, low body fat runners can develop pre diabetes when consuming high carb sport nutrition guidelines. However, they all rapidly reversed it when switching to a ketogenic diet. 👉 After this was published, I had numerous clinicians and athletes reach out and explain this was also happening to them. Shortly after, @lsanderstri, a world Champion triathlete also revealed on his youtube channel he also got pre-diabetes.
