YouTube with their stupid blocking of videos using music that is actually allowed is annoying . I’m not monetized on YouTube but it would be cool if this video could earn me some sats on Nostr. 😉

I’m sitting in the ER waiting room with my niece. My father-in-law is getting checked out by doctors. He just got an xray and they’re going to do blood work. That’s all I know. We got a phone call at 2:30 am and used uber to get here. My wife and mother-in-law are inside with my father-in-law. It’s now 3:42 and I’m super tired after traveling around Taiwan the past three days. Wish I could go back to bed. 💤

This cat was at the traditional instrument store we visited recently. Super nice and cute. My son had to buy some reads and a new mouthpiece got his Suona (a Chinese instrument that is similar to a clarinet?).

Good afternoon. Here are some pictures from Taiwan- two from today and two from yesterday. The first two are from Yi-Lan County where my wife is from. The second two are from Tamsui in northern Taiwan. We went to see Fort San Domingo which was first established and abandoned by the Spanish in the 1600s. The site was later built up by the Dutch who had established a colony on Taiwan. They were later defeated by Zheng Chenggong (Koxinga) who established the Kingdom of Tungning on Taiwan.

Guan Yu, also known as Guang Gong is a “god” worshipped in Taiwan. He definitely has the coolest statues like the one pictured here. I’m a Christian, but I do believe many of the “gods” throughout the world were real, only they weren’t actually gods- simply demons (fallen angels) disguising themselves as god’s to lead humanity astray from the truth. In some cases humans invented gods by embellishing the history of real people, such as with Guan Yu. Guan Yu was a Chinese military leader in the early 200s whose legend grew exponentially after his death. By the 1600s his mythology had grown to epic proportions. Interestingly, he is worshipped both by law enforcement and by gangsters. Zap ⚡️ if you think this statue looks pretty cool. image

This display outside a temple in Taiwan is cute, even if the deities being worshipped are actually demonic. Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. image

Here are some likenesses of demons pretending to be gods. Traditional Taiwanese religion is a mixture of Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucian philosophy. There is a heavy emphasis on appeasing the spirits which could be “gods” or ancestors or even demons. I used to think all these idols and legends were just inventions of men, made up as a way for charlatans and scammers to get money and power from unwitting people. Certainly some of them were created in this way, but I now believe that many of the “gods” were real, except they were actually demons masquerading as deities. For those who don’t know, demons are fallen angels who are in rebellion against God and want nothing more than to corrupt God’s most precious creation- humanity.
