Sobriety is to substances what Nostr is to legacy social platforms: both are acts of reclaiming sovereignty over systems designed to capture and exploit you.

If you get a chance to have a conversation or podcast with @Jake Woodhouse don’t pass it up. We dove into freedom and free will, concepts that feel more urgent than ever in this moment.
Here’s what struck me during our conversation. True freedom isn’t just about removing external constraints. It’s about reclaiming agency over our choices, our money, our information, our attention. Free will becomes meaningful only when the systems we operate within don’t predetermine our outcomes.
We’re living through a time when the boundaries between choice and coercion are blurring. When algorithms decide what we see, when monetary policy decides what we can save, when platforms decide what we can say, are we really free? Or are we operating within an illusion of choice?
This conversation reminded me why Nostr matters. It’s not just a protocol. It’s a statement about who gets to control the infrastructure of human connection and thought. Bitcoin does this for money, Nostr does it for communication.
Physical fitness is political. It’s part of the stack. Sound money, free speech, physical capability, independent thinking. All of it together makes you harder to capture.
People have real disagreements about values, priorities, and how to live. That’s normal and healthy. But look at the scale and intensity of division now versus 20 years ago. It’s not proportional to actual policy differences, it’s amplified by systems that profit from it.
The cruelest irony is that young you had infinite energy and wasted it staying up for no reason.
Now my body sends me a full invoice for every missed hour. Sleep debt used to be a suggestion, now it’s a loan shark with brass knuckles.

Let’s be controversial shall we….who agrees?
Ah yes, the classic billionaire productivity hack…simply stop experiencing problems. Why didn’t the rest of us think of that?

The whole “I want Bitcoin to moon but also crash so I can buy more” thing isn’t really a paradox. It’s just your brain operating on two different timelines at once.
When you want number go up, you’re thinking about your existing stack. When you want it to dump, you’re thinking about the stack you wish you had. Most of us are stuck somewhere in the middle, never quite done accumulating.
The real issue is that if Bitcoin does what we think it will, you never really stop wanting more. There’s no magical price point where you suddenly feel like you have enough sats. You’ll always
look back and think “damn, I should’ve bought more at [insert any previous price].”
Maybe that tension is actually healthy. It keeps you from getting complacent. The second you stop feeling torn about the price is probably when you’ve either stacked enough or lost the plot entirely.
Keep stacking, stay grounded, and don’t overthink it. Wanting both things just means you’re still in the game.
Trumps probably required to say this…

Society wants moderate voices.
But moderate voices cannot overthrow extreme voices.
