If we are building a modern Library of Alexandriaβa home for the memory of humanityβthen the first publication carries meaning.
Choosing the Bible first is understandable.
It is one of the most influential collections of writings in human history.
It has shaped faith, language, art, law, politics, liberation movements and entire civilizations.
It belongs in the library.
Absolutely.
But I still wish the first act had represented the whole human family.
Not because the Bible should be excluded.
Because no single tradition should have to stand in for everyone.
A modern Library of Alexandria could and should hold:
π The Bible
π The Book of Enoch
π The Jewish Tanakh
π The Quran
π The Vedas
π The Buddhist sutras
π The Tao Te Ching
π The Popol Vuh
π The Epic of Gilgamesh
π Ancient Egyptian writings
π African oral traditions
π Indigenous cosmologies
π Scientific discoveries
π Poetry, letters and ordinary human testimony
It should also ask important questions:
Which Bible?
Which canon?
Which translation?
Which books were included?
Which books were left outside?
Who made those decisions?
The Bible is not merely one book.
It is already a library assembled across centuries.
Different #Jewish and #Christian communities preserve different collections within it.
That history makes it an ideal doorway into a larger conversationβnot the final boundary around knowledge.
My concern is not Christianity.
My concern is whether we are rebuilding an old hierarchy when we have an opportunity to create something more open.
A universal library should not erase the Bible.
It should place the Bible within the enormous human conversation surrounding it.
The purpose is not to flatten every tradition or pretend they all teach the same thing.
The purpose is to preserve them faithfully enough that humanity can study:
π Their connections

π Their cultures
π Their histories
ποΈ Their visions of existence
Every sacred text deserves context.
Every culture deserves a shelf.
Every person deserves access.
Do not replace one canon with another.
Do not build another altar.
Build a table large enough for humanity to sit together.

π August 6-15, 2010: The Overflow Bug
On August 6, 2010, developer Jeff Garzik and others discovered a critical integer overflow vulnerability in Bitcoin. The bug could allow someone to create essentially unlimited bitcoin out of thin air. Nine days later, on August 15, an attacker exploited it, creating over 184 billion #BTC in a single transaction. Satoshi Nakamoto and the early developers coordinated an emergency fix and soft-forked the network back to a valid state within hours. It remains the only major inflation bug ever exploited on Bitcoin.
That week became one of the earliest demonstrations of Bitcoinβs ability to respond to an existential threat while remaining open source.
