I am getting better at this

I use trending as part of the experience on web but use latest in apps. Trending on nostr has a healthy amount of local interactions it’s not really like an algorithmic trending tab where the content is just about predictable like it is on X or TikTok. Nostr itself is just the protocol and I use it for edtech on #LearnWithNostr. I think the entire point is to find the data that works best for you rather than using it similarly to X or TikTok. Unpopular opinion but maybe memecoins are a sign that that working class money will have the ability to invest in individuals. In the famous words of Jay Z, “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man.” The formation of “bluechip” memecoins is nontrivial. In many ways you could argue that Bitcoin is a memecoin in and of itself with the peculiar identity that is Satoshi. Other blue chips would obviously be people like Elon, Kanye west, perhaps even Donald Trump.

Nostr is more or less the same as any social media, because the fundamentals of media won’t change. Producers will produce, consumers will consume. Substance dies and eventually it trends toward reactionary outputs governed by binary inputs. Users have more control over the data, and that’s temporarily wonderful, but eventually the same rot that festers the algorithm driven apps will grow here.

Now suddenly TikTok is an interesting subject on nostr 🙄

A few years ago I was permanently banned on TikTok for talking about Bitcoin and it sparked my interest in decentralized identity. It became clear how cruel the landscape of the internet had become. The other cruel thing was that I talked about it often enough, but it was never really entertaining enough. The cruel part being that the cost of seeking too much entertainment can sometimes be a rude awakening.
