Daily Bread (Christian) "Give us this day our daily bread" is a prayer of enough. It asks for today's provision, not a lifetime stored in fear. Gratitude lives in that scale. We thank God for the meal in front of us, the work of this hour, the strength for this afternoon. Daily bread keeps faith from becoming a fantasy about someday. It trains us to receive the gift that is actually here. "Give us this day our daily bread." β€” Matthew 6:11

Stoic Courage (Stoic) Courage for the Stoics is endurance in the service of justice, not swagger. It is staying with a hard duty, telling an unpopular truth, facing illness without adding a second layer of panic. Gratitude gives courage a reason. We protect what we have thanked. We speak up for people we are glad exist. Fear still visits. Virtue is what we do while it is visiting. "A brave mind is always prepared. It faces whatever happens as if it had known it would." β€” Seneca, Letters 66

Peace (Santutthi) (Buddhist) Contentment (santutthi) is one of the Buddha's teachings for a happy life. We're at peace with what we have. Gratitude is the path to santutthi: when we regularly name our blessings, we see that we already have enough. The chase for more relaxes. We find peace not by acquiring but by appreciating. "He who knows enough is enough will always have enough." "Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth." β€” Dhammapada 204
